Where the Two Become One. Where Form Finds the Other.
Right before you say yes to something, your body often knows something your mind hasn’t caught up to. It could be a person, a job, or a commitment you can’t fully see the shape of yet. No logic is involved and no list of pros and cons, just a pull or a resistance that arrives faster than thought.
That instant is the whole Quarter of Duality compressed into a single breath.
This is the part of the wheel that stops pretending you’re a self-contained thing. The first half of the Mandala is about becoming someone: figuring out your mind, building your form, learning what you’re even made of. This quarter doesn’t care how well you know yourself in isolation.
It only asks one question: can you bond? Can you cross the gap toward another person and stay there long enough for something real to grow?
It’s called “Measure for Measure,” and the name is meant mechanically. Every gate here is running some version of an instinctive calculation. Gate 44 is memory scanning a new face for patterns from the past, checking who’s safe before you’ve consciously decided anything.
Gate 7 is the quiet part of you organizing the room, sensing what direction things need to move in. Gate 59 breaks down the wall between you and another person, the pull that makes closeness possible in the first place. Gate 29 is what keeps you at the table after the initial spark fades, when discovery turns into the slower work of really knowing someone.
None of this is romantic in the movie sense. It’s older than that, the same wiring that has kept humans alive by making sure they don’t survive alone.
The spleen doesn’t wait for permission or proof. It knows, in the body, right now, whether this connection is safe to lean into.
Underneath all of it sits one simple fact: you were never built to figure life out by yourself in a room. The most private, personal parts of who you are still only finish forming in contact with someone else. Your independence stays intact, and this is the design working as intended.

Gate 7 sits in the G Center, in the Quarter of Duality, where purpose is fulfilled through Bonding.
Ra’s keynote is the Gate of the Role of the Self: “The point of convergence. By design, the need for leadership to guide and order society.” He expands the theme line himself: “This is the place where the future of humanity comes to a point.”
This is the Sphinx gate that faces forward. “Unlike the 13th gate which is there to look backwards and to accumulate past experience for the advantage of society, the 7th gate looks out of the window of the car into the future.”
The role is genetic, and there are six of them. “An Authoritarian will always be one, regardless.” The Definitive Book lists them: “Authoritarian, Democrat, Anarchist, Abdicator, General, and Administrator. These roles are genetic and mechanical, and have tremendous conditioning power within the Collective.”
Its harmonic gate is 31 in the Throat. Together they form the 31-7, the Channel of the Alpha, “for ‘good’ or ‘bad’ the design of leadership.” Understanding circuit, the logic half of the Collective, projected.
Projected means elected. “Alphas are made, and they’re made by others. The alpha is selected by the others.” And: “they can never say, ‘I am the leader. Follow me.’ They always have to wait for somebody to say, ‘You’re the one that can lead us. Will you?'”
One source disagreement belongs here. The Rave I Ching calls Gate 7 “a gate of logical direction” and The Definitive Book says “This is logic’s gate of direction.” Life Companion contradicts both: “Only one gate in the Sphinx gives direction: the second gate. It is the only one.” Both are Ra, so I record both and leave them unreconciled.
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Ra opens the whole quarter on this gate, and he opens it with rank. “There are leaders and there are followers. You can’t all be chiefs; you can’t all be Indians. It does not work that way.”
He then applies it straight to your marriage. “the 7th gate confuses all of our personal relationships and immediately creates a situation where no matter where you look in any bond, the bond is not fair or equal.”
He does not leave room to negotiate on that. “I don’t care how good your relationship is with your other. You know and I know that it’s not fair or equal, and it never will be, nor can it be and that is one of our illusions.”
And on the soul mate, if you were hoping. “You’re more likely to find your soul mate inside than you’re ever going to find it outside.”
His summary of the gate’s effect on bonding is one sentence. “So the 7th gate screws it all up. I want you to know that right from the beginning.”
Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx 3 — Gates 7/13 | 2/1
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The research here is practical: what a leader and a follower do to a bond, run through seven profiles, and Ra gives each of them a different result.
The 1/3 gets the authoritarian and the anarchist together. “These are beings that are absolutely impossible to lead.” And: “if you’re not in charge you’re going to be deeply insecure.”
The 1/4 does not test the foundation, it transmits it. “all you’re going to do is you’re going to take the nurturing example presented to you in your family and you’re simply going to translate that.” Ra’s warning to parents is blunt: “You can lie to your 1/3 child and pay the price your whole life. You lie to your 1/4 child and they’ll perpetuate the lie.”
The 2/4 is the democrat, and Ra corrects what that word means. “What it means to be a democrat is that whoever wants it the most gets it.” His line on the cost: “That’s why you have this great line in the 7.2 about democrats denigrating democracy. The people who don’t vote are the people that scream the loudest when the voting is over.”
The 2/5 runs on suspicion and projection. “they’re so suspicious of the other. So fundamentally paranoid about what it means to bring another human being into their life that they would rather avoid the whole thing.”
The 3/5 is Ra’s traffic accident. “make a 3/5 Sphinx the policeman who stands in the middle of a cross section and you’ll see some of the biggest accidents in history.” On falling in love: “the moment that they even have a sense that they have fallen in love, they’re already preparing for the end.”
The 3/6 arrives at something the others do not. “They know that they could do worse. They know that they may be better. But what they do know is that it will never be perfect, and the best thing to do is take the best of it and forget the rest.” Ra calls that “as close to love as they’ll ever get.”
The 4/6 closes the Right Angle. “This is the final statement of the right angle in the experiment of setting direction for duality.” Its method is leveling: “Give us a sense of commonality and the way we do that is through the G and through the ego.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Interaction — Gates 7/13 | 23/43
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The direction drops out here and the mind takes over. “But there is no real direction anymore. The 1-2 which is the heart of direction is gone. We’ve got the 43/23 underneath. It all becomes mental.”
Ra’s own image for this cross, and he has the 43/23 on his nodes. “This is the channel of the deepest deafness that you can imagine. Your partner is screaming at you, interaction, screaming at you; you do not hear them.”
What replaces hearing is explanation. “the 4/1 tries to explain to the right angle what a relationship really is. Let me tell you the way it is, let me explain to you how you could live together.”
The gift is real and it is aimed outward. “4/1s, interaction, they are amazing at the way in which they will be able to influence couples.” The not-self version is two words: “And they’re spooky in that they’re not-self. ‘I know.'”
Gate 23 is what makes the interaction workable. “It’s the awareness and understanding which leads to the acceptance of diversity.” Ra also deflates the gate’s own keynote: “For an individual, the idea that you have to assimilate means that you stay an individual and everybody else thinks you’re assimilated. There is no assimilation. It’s a myth.”
Their own relationships are a different matter. “if you’re going to have a 4/1 as a lover, you have to understand that there is absolutely no way you can go against them. You can never win, you can only lose.”
And the structural job: “Remember that 4/1s are a bridge.” Ra states the law it bridges: “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.”
Left Angle Cross of Masks 2 — Gates 7/13 | 23/43
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The Left Angle has to sell what the Right Angle found. “you go from the recognition that as a direction duality is going to be difficult to the left angle that has to sell it. Remember, the left angle has to sell it. So, it sells it through masks.”
Ra names who wears the mask on this cross. “Think about who wears the mask, the General. What do we know about the general? The general says, look, I will only go to war when it’s absolutely necessary. I will only have a relationship when it is absolutely necessary.”
The mask is worn for a payoff. “we will wear whatever mask it takes as long as we have a benefit out of the relationship.” Ra puts the logic in one word: “The logic behind it all is about work. It’s just about work.”
The whole cross rests on one sentence. “relationships are inherently dishonest. All relationships are inherently dishonest. We lie about them all the time, to ourselves to our partners. It doesn’t have to be lies in words, we lie in our aura.”
The 5/1 sells it and pays for it. “the further and further away you are from the legitimacy of the mask, the more devastating the results are going to be.” Underneath, the unconscious 1st line never settles: “You can be 50 years into a relationship with a 1st line unconscious and somebody can say to you, boy, you must have really loved this person, and you go, well, yeah, I’m still watching, still investigating.”
The 5/2 does a different job entirely. “The 5/2 on this cross is that they help people realize that they’re in a bad relationship.” Ra names the professional version: “this is a great cross and line configuration for somebody who is going to do partnership analysis.”
The 6/2 gets the Administrator, and Ra says it is not innate. “this ability to share and justly apportion power is not something you’re born with. It’s something that you can mature into.” Where it lands: “Ultimately, it’s not about sharing direction, it’s about sharing power. And as we well know, politicians share directions, not power.”
The 6/3 faces forward, toward Gate 4. “the 6/3 is never really concerned about where it comes from, it’s concerned about where it’s going.” What it looks for is trust: “how can we develop this trust that will allow us to move along on the same track with another without it ever being possible that we are one. And this is the greatest doubt of all.”
What holds across all three
Gate 7 is the role behind the throne. Ra: “The 31 may have the Influence but the direction and role of the 7, is all too often the power behind the throne.”
The Right Angle researches what leading and following do to a bond. The Juxtaposition drops direction, goes mental, and explains interaction to everyone else. The Left Angle sells the arrangement through masks, and only the 5/1 is really in the selling business.
None of it runs on announcing yourself. Ra’s playground picture is the whole distortion: “there’s the 31-7 verbal gunslinger saying, ‘We’re going to go over to the swings now.’ And everybody goes in another direction. Everybody!”
And the line most people on this cross will not want. “Love can never be your authority. You have to be your authority; no one else.”
Success in every configuration runs through Strategy and Authority. The invitation comes from others, or it does not come.

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Formulization : “The energy to beguile and succeed despite ignorance. Freedom from retribution.”
It answers a pressure it did not create. “The 4th gate is the gate of formulization and the potential is the awareness to judge what is suspicious in the pattern or not… The doubt is always initiated by a pattern.”
An answer here is a formula, and Ra keeps the formula small. “An answer is a formula. The formula is: it is suspicious, or not.”
He is blunt about what that answer is worth. “everybody looks at the 4 and says, aha, the gate of answers. Yeah, yeah; it doesn’t mean those answers are correct. It doesn’t mean they’re right. The answer is a panic response to the pressure.”
Its harmonic gate is 63 in the Head. Together they form the 63-4, the Channel of Logic , a Design of Mental Ease mixed with Doubt. Understanding circuit, the logic stream of the collective, projected .
Projected sets the timing, and the timing is not yours to set. “The most important thing about people who have the fourth gate is that they don’t decide the timing. They are ready for the right time.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Purpose here is fulfilled through Bonding, and the 4 arrives with a problem it cannot solve. “through the 4th gate, the doubt about the viability of any relationship is the key.”
Ra states the assignment. “what the 4th gate wants to be able to do is it wants to be able to come up with a formula that makes it acceptable to spend your life with somebody that you can never be one with.”
The quarter answers back. “partnership can never logically be answered. There is no logical how to make it right. This pisses off logic.”
He does not soften what the bonding is for. “The genes don’t care about your relationship; they couldn’t give a shit about your relationship. All they want to do is establish a platform upon which life can emerge.”
And what logic does when it hits that wall. “in this quarter logic gets all fuzzy. Logic becomes belief system. It is logic saying well, try this. It will make it a little bit better. I really don’t have the answer, is what it is saying.”
Right Angle Cross of Explanation 3 — Gates 4/49 | 23/43
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The six lines of the 4 are six formulas for living with another person, and Ra walks them in order. Pleasure, Acceptance, Irresponsibility, the Liar, Seduction, Excess.
The 1/3 sells the negative version. “The 1/3 on this cross says I know what goes wrong so maybe if I come up with a formula I can make a living telling people how to avoid what goes wrong.” Ra’s example is the magazine rack: “how not to lose your lover, ten ways of how not to lose your lover. This is a 4th gate job.”
Then that formula gets tested on a partner. “the 1/3 goes through this whole process of crashing into these problems and trying to have a logical solution, and then trying to explain it to their lover, trying to get them to go along with the logical formula.”
The 1/4 carries the parents’ formula forward. “whatever worked for mama and papa will work for them. Whatever didn’t work for mama and papa won’t work for them.” Ra puts the weight on the parents: “that child will not challenge that false face, it will carry that false face forward.”
The 2s get Acceptance. “The recognition of limitation in oneself and others leads to tolerance and the suspension of judgment.” Ra on why that is real work for them: “for all 2nd line beings, acceptance is one of the most difficult things.”
The 3/5 gets the third line as Ra wrote it. “Irresponsibility: The general refusal to apply oneself diligently.” Ra’s translation: “just don’t pay any fucking attention. If you’re flying along and somebody is screaming, turn on the radio, man, just forget it.”
The 4/6 gets the fourth. “The Liar: Role playing as an art form; the actor.” Ra makes the mechanical point rather than the moral one: “this is one of the thing about the nature of how logic will say to you, look, I know that duality is tough, so lie.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Formulization — Gates 4/49 | 8/14
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The mind gates are gone. Ra: “you’re going to move into the 8 and the 14, you’re going to get rid of the mind. You’re going to go deep, deep into the heart of the sacral with the 14th gate, all this power and the 8th gate in the throat; this very powerful need to demonstrate, simply to demonstrate uniqueness.”
What gets fixed here is the role. “it is logic that has created the roles that we accept generally within our cultures for the way in which a man and a woman are together. And it’s all a role, it’s all a lie, but after all, it makes everybody comfortable to live the same lie.”
Ra gives his verdict on the 4/1 as the end point of the Right Angle’s research. “the only solution they can come up with is lie. And I think that’s wonderful. It puts it all in its place.”
On where this angle sits, the law: “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.” The Juxtaposition is the link, and it holds only on a foundation: “you have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
The 49 sits opposite the 4 on all three of these crosses. “underneath every logical attempt to try to find a way through the right angle process to make duality work is the potential to transform the way we bond at the tribal level. If you look at the 49th gate, the 49th gate is the gate of marriage and divorce.”
Left Angle Cross of Revolution 2 — Gates 4/49 | 8/14
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The 5th line of the 4 is Seduction, and the White Book line is not a compliment. “Allowing others to assume responsibility as a shield against potential punishment.”
Ra reads it through the 5’s paranoia. “if you think this relationship can be worked out, you take the responsibility. Go ahead, I dare you. I don’t want to take the responsibility because if I take the responsibility and it doesn’t work out I’m going to get blamed, and I going to lose my reputation.”
The heresy underneath is where the revolution sits. “my heresy is that is that the only way that any kind of relationship can work is if you truly understand the other human being. That’s the truth that the 5 brings, that’s the revolution.”
Its distortion is the oldest line in the book. “my wife doesn’t understand me, which is what the 5th line seducer does when it’s trying to screw some young thing.”
The 5/2 carries the burden and then puts it down. “5/2s are always stuck in a position where they end up having to take responsibility for the education of their partner… They’re the ones that get the burden and as a result they don’t do it.” What they can still deliver: “they’re the ones that will give us the formulas for the question of responsibility in relationship.”
The 6/2 gets Excess and comes back with technique. “the potential of that 6/2 is really to be able to learn from excess in order to be able to provide, as a role model, techniques.”
The 6/3 goes through the same door and arrives at restraint. “they will develop very stable techniques for maintaining relationships, just stable. And they’re techniques of self-restraint.”
Read the Left Angle profiles separately. “the only truly transpersonal Left Angle Profile is the 5/1. It’s the only one. 5/2s, because they’re self-motivated, are rarely transpersonal in their activities.”
What holds across all three
Gate 4 is an answer to a doubt about a pattern, and in this quarter the pattern is another person.
The Right Angle works the six formulas out on its own life. The Juxtaposition fixes the roles that come out of that and hands them to the culture. The Left Angle markets understanding as the way through, and moves the tribal terms of marriage and divorce while doing it.
The gate is projected and carries no power of its own. “By design, the question (63), the answer (4) and the Opinion have no voice much less any power to act. The mind is far away from a motor.”
Ra names what happens when the answer stops here. “whoever gets it to the throat gets all the credit. Whoever speaks the voice of that opinion in detail is the one that gets the credit and not the seducer in the 4th.”

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Saying Yes: “The deep within the deep. Persistence despite difficulties has its inevitable rewards.”
What it does is one thing. “It is the gate of the Sacral saying, ‘Yes’. This is the fuel to persevere despite the circumstances. This is the gate of loading up on piles of commitments and responsibilities so there will be something to persevere about.”
The yes is indiscriminate, which is why Ra jokes about it. “‘Can I borrow your life?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Can I waste your time?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Can I take all your money?’ ‘Yes.'” And the fix has nothing to do with effort. “The trick is to say yes to what is correct. The secret, as always with this Circuit, is waiting.”
Its harmonic gate is 46 in the G. Together they form 46-29, the Channel of Discovery, a Design of Succeeding where Others Fail.
Sensing circuit, abstract, collective, generated. One of the three tantric channels.
Ra rates it highest for immediacy. “the most existential force in the BodyGraph is this channel, the 46/29.” And it is the one abstract channel with no past in it. “there is one channel in the whole abstract circuit that has absolutely nothing to do with the past. It’s here. It’s all about being totally in the experience.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
The abstract believes in duality instead of solving it. Ra: “Abstract doesn’t think, abstract believes. Abstract believes that there’s somebody waiting for them.”
That belief is the fuel of the gate. “the 29th gate is really ready to see how you plug in, how you connect. It is a commitment to find oneness. It is a commitment to find oneness as a hope. So, how do we glue each other together?”
The quarter itself sets the pressure. Ra in Quarters and Angles: “bonding leads to competition. Bonding itself is competitive… there is this determination to find not simply a mate, but the best mate.”
And the whole channel has one trap. “the trap of the abstract life force in the 29/46 is to stop in the middle of anything. It is the greatest danger.”
Right Angle Cross of Contagion 3 — Gates 29/30 | 8/14
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The 1st line is The Draftee. Ra: “the ability to adapt to struggle when necessary but not as a permanent state.” His paraphrase is the whole cross in one breath. “I don’t care about the pattern. I don’t mind if it’s going to get messy. Let’s see what happens, but I don’t want it to be a really bad experience.”
The 1/3 learns the cost early. “the 1/3 is going to find out right away that commitment is something that is full of broken promises, over and over again, broken promises.”
The abstract has no way to fix a relationship, so it survives it instead. “the only way relationship goes through any transformation is through crisis, and that it is crisis that will establish the strength of any abstract relationship.”
Contagion is the word to take literally, and the 2/4 is where Ra puts it hardest. “the 2/4 is designed to be the hidden disease ready to plunge maddeningly out into the world, but somebody’s got to initiate it. Somebody’s got to release the virus.”
He includes himself. “Do you know what my cross is and profile for my Kironian phase in life, which I’m presently in? I’m a 2/4 Cross of Contagion. Don’t let this virus out, I tell you.”
The 3/5 runs on excitement, and pattern has little to do with it. “one of the primary themes of the abstract is excitement… to create excitement you have to create tension.” And the 4/6 runs on fantasy. “when the 4/6 is making love to you, they’re making love to their fantasy, and that’s how they survive it.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Commitment — Gates 29/30 | 20/34
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
This cross has definition in it. The 20/34 is one of the three oppositions in the wheel Ra calls generational imprints, and his keynote for it is “busy, busy, busy.”
That definition lands on the gate directly. “You’ve got the 29 as an adjective of being busy in the now, which doesn’t know how to behave and doesn’t know why it’s being busy, it’s just busy in the now.”
So the fate is fixed on making commitments. “Somebody who comes in on this cross is going to be busy making commitments. Their whole life will be about making commitments.”
And the job is to sell it. “this is a salesperson for commitment. Go do it; go have it; go be a part of it; find a partner, change your partner, get another partner.”
Ra does not leave that as a nice image. “That has dangerous implications in the way in which one human being treats the other. And it can lead to all kinds of experiences that we in our morality would consider to be crimes.” The 4/1 carries the Right Angle’s research into the Left Angle’s propaganda, and Ra’s warning to it is the same as everywhere else: put nothing out before the foundation is solid.
Left Angle Cross of Industry 2 — Gates 29/30 | 20/34
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The 5th line is Overreach. “The tendency to bite off more than one can chew. The black book with 872 addresses; the engagements in three different cities at the same time; you’re overdoing it.”
Industry here means what it says. “You can add pornographic industry, relationship mating industry, sex industry… the beauty industry… The perfume industry, you name it. The modeling industry, the massage industry.”
What is being sold is a fantasy. “we’ve learned in the 29th gate that there’s no contagion without fantasy. You have to create fantasy.” And “what this heresy does is it puts the emphasis on the fantasy as superior to the fact.”
Ra puts himself in the same sentence. “all 5s, all heretics, myself included, if we don’t sell fantasy we are not going to do well… I sell the fantasy of awakeness.”
The 5/2 keeps it private. “In the 5/2, the fantasy is private… They’re the ones that will have the fantasy love life, even if they have a partner.”
The 6th line is Confusion. “Confusion where momentum outstrips awareness… It’s about driving blind.” Ra’s read is cold and mechanical. “there is a coldness in the 6… it’s not connected to this sharing awareness. It is only about persevering, nothing more.”
And he deflates the gate’s own keynote himself. “Persistence despite difficulties has its inevitable rewards. Where the hell are the rewards? You know what the rewards are? You get to the other side and die.”
What holds across all three
Gate 29 says yes. The three angles say yes to different things.
The Right Angle says yes to the experience and finds out what commitment costs. The Juxtaposition is busy in the now and sells commitment to everyone in range. The Left Angle industrializes the fantasy that the right other is out there.
Ra removes the prize at the end of all three. “There is no perfect relationship waiting for anyone. Logic has already told us that. But abstract has to find it out another way.”
That leaves the mechanics. The yes is a Sacral response and never a decision, and the gate cannot tell a correct commitment from a wrong one on its own. “The trick is to say yes to what is correct. The secret, as always with this Circuit, is waiting.”

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Sexuality: “The ability to break down barriers to achieve union, to achieve reproductive and fertile union.”
It is a genetic role gate, and Ra keeps that term exact. “when we’re looking at role gates, these are genetic role gates, they’re not identity role gates… they are there to fulfill the genetic imperative. And the genetic imperative is very simple: Make more.”
That comes with a warning most write-ups drop. “Role gates never describe the person, but only the role.”
Its harmonic gate is 6 in the Solar Plexus. Together they form the 59-6, the Channel of Mating, a Design Focused on Reproduction. Defense circuit, tribal, generated.
Ra on the force of it: “There is absolutely nothing on this planet that is more penetrating than a 59/6. They can get into your aura the way a hot knife goes through butter, because this is the mechanism.” The nickname “aura breaker” comes from The Definitive Book, not from Ra’s own lectures, and is recorded as that book’s wording.
The Sacral is not aware. “the sacral center is not aware. It is a very hot and sweet, dumb machine. It is just doing its job.” And of this channel: “There is nothing dumber than the 59-6. Nothing blinder.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
The 59 is where this quarter’s biology sits. Ra: “You’ve got the 59 and the 6. You’ve got the biological imperative of saying we must reproduce.”
Bonding exists because of a limitation the Monopole imposes. “the deep limitation of the illusion of our separateness. All of us live with that.”
The tribe’s answer to that limitation is not romantic. “The tribe doesn’t care about that at all… The point is that only when you make more can you die.”
Ra says what the gate feels like from the inside. “it’s why 59s have a hard time on the mundane plane, because after all, they’re driven by an imperative that says, I’m fertile, I’m fertile, I’m fertile; I want to do something, I want to do something. It’s there all the time.”
Of all the Sacral gates, this one never says no. “The 34 says, I’m never available, I’m busy. And the 59 says I am always available.”
Right Angle Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix 3 — Gates 59/55 | 20/34
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The name states a condition. “in order for them to wake up they must die first… anyone who carries this cross to see very clearly they must die first.”
The busyness is 20/34 and the 59 aims it. “the 20/34 being a definition with the 59 being its active adjective, then we know that all the busyness is going to be focused on, not the partnership, but the children. Let’s have a baby.”
The children are the catalyst. “It may be the catalyst they need to die and wake up. What they themselves are unable to have contact with, can suddenly be placed directly in their face by their children.”
Meanwhile the cross does not know what it is carrying. “within the context of its cross, it’s asleep. It doesn’t know how mutative it is. It doesn’t understand its own potential, it’s simply very, very busy in the now hustling sexually.”
Ra reads the lines rather than flattening them. The 1/3 is the preemptive strike: “look, I know you don’t particularly like me, but we’re going to have a baby now.”
The 2/4 is shyness as a strategy. “Isn’t it exciting that you have to break down the barrier to get to me?” And what that profile delivers on this cross is courtship: “better that you have a friend as your partner in life than you have a lover that will torment you.”
The 3rd line changes the target. “the 3rd line genetics is not even concerned with making more. It’s concerned with making the best.”
The 4/6 uses friendship instead of needing it. “where the 2/4 will be legitimate in needing friendship as a basis for a relationship because that’s what will be called out of them, the 4/6 uses it.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Strategy — Gates 59/55 | 16/9
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Logic steps back into a tribal gate here, and it brings a plan. “We have 4/1 juxtaposition, it means that we have a foundation at the unconscious level, and we have the ability to simply put it out at the conscious level. And we’re not a Phoenix anymore; we don’t have to die anymore. We can plan.”
The plan has three steps and Ra states all three. “And what’s the plan? First we get to know them, we find out if they’re really good for us, and then we have children.”
The two gates underneath say what the strategy is made of. “a good relationship requires skill and focus. Just a good relationship requires skill and focus. The focus is the children, and the skill is in sharing.”
What is fixed here is the friendship. “the friendship of the 4/1 is very fixed, very rigid. It’s everything to them. The solidity of that friendship is more important than anything.”
And the 4/1 hands it on for someone else to deliver. “this is the message that the 4/1 is trying to bring to the 5/1 to deliver to the tribe.”
Left Angle Cross of Spirit 2 — Gates 59/55 | 16/9
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The heresy is one sentence long. “The 4/1 says the strategy is to be friends, and the 5/1 says I want good sex.”
Ra puts it in the 5’s own voice. “Look, that’s very nice what you’re saying, I’m happy to spend my life with a friend, but I want good sex. I really want it to be fun, at least at that level.”
That is heresy because of who hears it. “it’s a heresy in the tribe. The tribe never talks about its sex life… The tribe has embarrassment with sex.”
The detriment of the line names the trade. “It’s the line of the Gigolo, the adventuress, to use love to break down barriers, to seduce.”
Ra’s own summary of what the Left Angle sells belongs here verbatim. “The left angle says, that’s not good enough. It’s not good enough, it’s got to be another thing that makes it worthwhile that’s really good enough, let’s sell sex. The oldest profession, let’s sell sex— 59.5.”
Then the line that stops the romance. “what I want you to see here in the 59.5 is that you’re seeing a heresy that is coming to an end.” Ra on himself: “I’m the last 5 messenger. There are no more 5 messengers.”
The 6s are not doing the 5’s job. “The 5 sells sex, the 6 sells intimacy. The 6 sells the potential of closeness.”
The 6/2 learns what the 5 never gets to. “let go of it not being your soul mate, let go of it being a difficult, let go of duality and love intimacy for the sake of intimacy, and only for that.”
The 6/3 accepts less and is stable in it. “The 6/3 is willing to accept any relationship that provides at least some intimacy, this sense of connection.” Children are often not the point: “6/3s and 3/6s often don’t have children. It’s really not the point for them.”
What holds across all three
Gate 59 is the mechanism that breaks the barrier. What each angle does with the union afterwards is where they separate.
The Right Angle makes children and hopes the death and the waking follow. The Juxtaposition plans the entry and fixes friendship as the ground. The Left Angle refuses the friendship bargain and sells the excitement, on a heresy Ra says is closing.
The gate is also under species-level mutation. “what’s happening in the 59 is that the 59 is beginning to search for a mutative partner. It is not searching for simply a partner that is acceptable. It is looking for something else. It’s getting more and more finicky.”
Success runs through the entry, and the entry runs through Strategy and Authority. “The only real choice you have in this matter is to enter into each intimate relationship through your Authority.”
Ra on what taking the time buys you: “If you take your time going in, you’re always going to see the warning signs along the way.” The Definitive Book states the cost of skipping it: “intimacy can bring anything from confusion and conflict to unproductive unions.”

Gate 40 sits in the Heart/Ego Center, in the Quarter of Duality, where purpose is fulfilled through Bonding.
Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Aloneness: “The point of transition between struggle and liberation.” He calls that line the key to everything here. “This is the whole business of understanding the ego. It has its time for struggle and then it has its required liberation, to be free of the struggle. No ego can stay with struggle.”
The Heart is a motor, and Ra shuts down any awareness claim inside this gate’s own entry. “Deliverance is the gate of Will power and it is to be carefully noticed, this is not an awareness center and not everyone has access to this power.”
It is also the small will. “The whole thing to understand about the 40th gate is that it is not the big powerful will. We find the strong will in the 51st gate. Rather, the 40 is the potential of will that can be built up or inflated by others.”
Its organ is the stomach, and the stomach is the model for how will behaves. “Willpower can only last so long under certain circumstances and then it has to give up, in the same way that your heart needs to beat. It cannot hold the tone. There has to be the space in between.”
Its harmonic gate is 37, the Gate of Friendship, in the Solar Plexus. Together they form the 40-37, the Channel of Community, a Design of a Part seeking a Whole. Ego/Tribal circuit, projected.
One source note before the crosses. The Rave I Ching files this gate as “one of the three gates of social caution (12,33),” while Ra in the 33rd hexagram says “The 12th gate, the 40th gate and the 33rd gate are the three gates of aloneness.” Both are Ra, and the keynotes volume records the Rave I Ching line as reading damaged.
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
This quarter is done with building. Ra: “when you get into this Quarter, the third Quarter in the Quarter of Duality, you get into the confrontation between the genders.” It is a fertility quarter, ruled by Jupiter, and he says flatly that people who come in here “you’re only going to be fulfilled through your mate. You’re only going to be fulfilled through your best friend.”
So the 40 lands in the middle of the sex contract. “The 40/37 is at the heart of what we call our modern or basically civilized sexuality.” Specifically: “the 40/37 is the place where we figure out how to have sex but not make children. So this is the great channel of foreplay.”
The gate on its own and the gate in a channel are not the same thing. “The gate of aloneness is the gate of aloneness. When the 40th gate is part of a defined channel, it’s not the gate of aloneness anymore. How can it be?”
And bonding in this quarter is not gentle. Ra: “bonding leads to competition. Bonding itself is competitive.” He means it in the Darwinian sense, the drive to find not simply a mate but the best mate.
Right Angle Cross of Planning 3 — Gates 40/37 | 16/9
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The other two gates are 16, the Gate of Skills, and 9, the Gate of Focus, and Ra names what they do. “Everything about the Cross of Planning is that it’s so focused. It’s so focused on the skills and all the things that go to make the bargain work so everything can be more relaxed.”
That relaxation is the point of the whole cross. “The Cross of Planning is the cross of relax. That’s the bargain. The bargain is, let’s relax. We’re going to build in all this infrastructure and then we can all relax.” The global cycle has run since 1610 and ends in 2027.
The willpower is what puts the infrastructure there. Ra: “if there isn’t the willpower to build the infrastructure we’re going to have problems.” He traces world hunger back to this gate instead of to a shortage of food.
The exchange is explicit, and it stays explicit. “You do this, I’ll do that; here’s our bargain. If you follow your end of the bargain and I follow my end of the bargain we’re going to do okay.” The Definitive Book adds the terms: appreciation, loyalty, food, and “give you time alone to rest.”
Ra is blunt about the motive. “The whole thing about the ego is that ego never loves the work; it loves the massage it gets for the work.” And: “the trap of the ego is that it can only feel good when it’s working for someone else.”
The profiles do not do the same job. The 1/3 finds out the honeymoon is an illusion and writes the prenuptial: “I don’t know what’s going to happen, so I’m going to list it now.” The 2/4 supplies resoluteness, “for better or worse… We will stick it out, because that’s the deal.”
The 3/5 mines the bargain for what can be enjoyed and carries the projection field that comes with it. “It’s so hard to be a 3/5 and prove yourself.” Ra locates real humility in the 3/6 and withholds it from the 3/5: “There is a level of: it is what it is.”
The 4/6 is the organizer, and this is where community first appears. “The 4th line here is about organizing… you bring all kinds of pair bonds together and you have them live next to each other. This is the beginning of community.” From there Ra runs the whole ladder: village, community, nation state, global citizen.
Juxtaposition Cross of Denial — Gates 40/37 | 35/5
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Ra’s own picture of this cross is a small domestic scene. “You’re traveling through a town and you meet somebody and they want you to settle down in that town and you don’t want to. You would rather say okay, but let’s find a place outside of town so we can just be together denying not the partner, but the community and community responsibilities.”
What gets denied is unpaid tribal labor. “The ego is expected to donate its energy to building the church, the community center, be the voluntary fireman, whatever all of those things are that add on to work and work that is rarely rewarded financially.”
The shift off Planning costs this cross its focus and its skills. “So, what’s the bargain going to be based on now? The bargain has to be based on habit and expectation.” Ra’s verdict on that arrangement: “And if you believe any of that I’ll sell you a bridge.”
Often the denial extends to children. “Often the 4/1 here doesn’t want to have children. It doesn’t even want to get caught in that whole game.”
Then the joke Ra tells on this cross. Trying to escape the community trap, they build the suburb, and the suburb fills up behind them. “In other words, because they’re 4s and they’re influential, even though they’re trying to get out of the community trap they end up in the suburban trap… And in fact, they keep the whole damn thing going.”
On where the angle sits in the machine, Ra states the law plainly. “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.” The Juxtaposition is neither, and he calls it “a genetic linking… a way of bringing together the personal process of the Right Angle and transforming it into the Left Angle propaganda and marketing.”
And the condition that decides whether a 4/1 holds. “You have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
Left Angle Cross of Migration 2 — Gates 40/37 | 35/5
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
Migration is what happens when the bargain fails. “This movement to migration is always based on the sense that the bargains somehow has been broken, that there is a need to establish a new structure in order to make things fair.”
The 5th line of the 40 supplies the method. Rigidity: “the recognition that to achieve liberation all negative forces must be rejected… the power of the ego is maintained in the rejection of negative relationships.” Which sounds like this in practice: “I can’t stand these people anymore, I can’t live with these people anymore, come with me.”
Ra does not let anyone romanticize the next valley. “We are the nastiest creature that has come out of the soup on this planet. There is nothing meaner and nastier than the killer monkey, nothing. The killer monkey never asks if I go to the next valley will anything in that next valley mind.”
Read the profiles before applying any of this evenly. Ra’s general rule: “the only truly transpersonal Left Angle Profile is the 5/1. It’s the only one. 5/2s, because they’re self-motivated, are rarely transpersonal in their activities.”
So the 5/1 makes the call. “Follow me to the next valley. And every heretic does this.” Ra names the fuel too: “the only reason that you move out of your valley is that you’re paranoid, and you’re tired of them always projecting on you.”
The 5/2 does not call anyone. “The 5/2s say, I don’t want to live in this valley, I’m going away and I’m not telling you where I’m going, period. And off they go.” Ra names it the runaway syndrome, and adds that they normally run alone but run to something.
The 6/2 carries the 6th line, Decapitation: “the necessary destruction of inferior forces in positions of power before liberation can take place.” Its migration is a different plan from the 5’s: “let’s go to the new valley to prepare to come back and conquer what is really ours.”
The 6/3 cuts the return route. “The 6/3 here basically tries to stop everyone in migration from even connecting or relating to where they came from.” And the perfection it aims at is social: “it’s not a matter of not finding the right partner, but it’s only about living in the right society.”
What holds across all three
Gate 40 is will that runs out on purpose. Ra: “if we didn’t have the 40th gate, we would still have 14 hour days, because it’s the 40th gate that says I did enough work today, I’m done, I need a rest.”
The three angles put that will to different work. The Right Angle builds the infrastructure and the bargain that lets everyone relax. The Juxtaposition denies the community claim on that will and moves to the edge of town.
The Left Angle walks away from a bargain that no longer holds and takes the tribe to the next valley.
All three run on the same denial and the same lie underneath it. “The 40th gate says, ‘I don’t need you.’ This is not true… In order to get the ego to do anything, you have to massage it.”
And the rest is the mechanism itself. “We cannot overwork the ego. The more you overwork it, the less productive it becomes.” Skip it and Ra is specific about the price: ulcers, workaholics who drop dead, and the bargain that sits in the stomach and ratchets until it explodes over nothing.
Which bargains are correct is not a matter of preference. “Your bargains can only be correct if you’re operating correctly. There is no other way.” That means Strategy and Authority, and for the projected 40-37 it means waiting for an invitation that arrives through touch and direct personal contact, and a phone call does not do it.

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Confusion: “Transition, like birth, requires a determined strength for the passage through.”
The Head is a pressure, and Ra will not let that slide. “The Head is a Pressure Center not an awareness. This is the beginning of the Abstract mental process.” On the gate itself: “They can’t know because the 64 is only a pressure which is not aware. The awareness is in the ajna.”
The word confusion is not an insult here. “The term Confusion is not to be taken as a negative. It simply means that the pressure is a busy mind with a great deal of data (most of which is superfluous) that requires filtering before the pressure can be relieved.”
What it carries is the past, and it arrives in pieces. “you have a camera working in your brain all day which takes pictures of the world as the world goes by you… The 64th gate is the abstract inspiration and, as such, it releases its sequences and not the complete footage.” That is the whole explanation: “you do not get the complete beginning, middle and end. You get a sequence within that framework. That is why the 64th gate is a gate of Confusion.”
Its harmonic gate is 47 in the Ajna. Together they form the 64-47, the Channel of Abstraction, a Design of Mental Activity mixed with Clarity. Sensing circuit, the collective abstract, projected.
Ra’s image for what the pressure does to every experience: “It’s sort of like taking a beam of light and putting it through a prism. Every single experience is put through the prism of the mental activity.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Ra says plainly that the 63-64 is not in the game. “in the evolutionary sense it’s something that’s out there that we actually never get to. In fact, when it comes to the way in which the cycle operates we actually stop at the 62nd step.”
His image for the passenger is simple. “They have a window that looks up, and all the other windows are dark. They have no idea what the hell is going on.” That is where the questions come from: “It’s where all the whys come from, it’s looking up.”
Duality does something specific to a being who takes in without filtering. “They seem to fall in love with something that nobody else sees. They will see beauty where there is no beauty, and yet perhaps the beauty is actually there.” Ra applies that to the whole gate, “regardless of whether they’re right angle or left angle.”
And he states the limit on the bond directly. “no matter what kind of physical relationship they have with the other, their purpose is not being fulfilled through that. Their purpose is only fulfilled through trying to find, because this is the Quarter of Duality, trying to find the right consciousness.”
Right Angle Cross of Consciousness 3 — Gates 64/63 | 35/5
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The intake is mechanical, and Ra gives it a body part. “they’re almost nostrils for me. It’s like they’re just taking it in, so the 63 is sucking up the pattern experience and the 64 is taking in the result of the experiential cycle.”
What they know first is that nobody knows anything. “they realize from their 3 underneath that nobody knows anything about anything. If they meet the wisest person, there is a part of them, because they are looking like this, that will find something wrong with it.”
This is not the same cross Ra taught in the first two quarters. “This is not the 63rd gate that we looked at. This is not the 35 that we looked at. This is right in the middle of the whole duality business.”
The 2/4 comes back with one instruction. “look go inside, become conscious, become conscious of your consciousness.” Ra on the cost of that: “One of the real risks of being a 2 on this cross is that your mind never stops. It’s always in action. There are no solutions there.”
The 2/5 is the hermit who found the heresy. “the 2/5 Cross of Consciousness hermit discovers something very heretical. There are no solutions.”
The 3/5 sells the technique. “Give me a 3/5 and I will give you a technique being born.” And the arrogance is a reading, in Ra’s own words: “There is an intellectual arrogance to the Cross of Consciousness that you don’t meet in any other cross, and most of it is legitimate.”
The 4/6 gets the assuredness line of the gate, which belongs here and not on the Left Angle. “Symbolized by the phases of the Moon that it’s assured of transition convinced by its very process that it will triumph.” Its job in this quarter is witnessing: “it’s great to be a voyeur on the Cross of Consciousness because your purposes fulfilled through being a witness of the consciousness field.”
Ra’s own release for the 6 is generous. “our lives are not determined by having an answer… human life is ironically enough, just living.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Confusion — Gates 64/63 | 45/26
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The mental partners are gone and the tribe takes their place. “you trade the 5 and the 35, and instead you get pure, unadulterated tribal business— the 26. The 26 is an incredibly powerful gate. And of course, the 45 is literally the only voice of the tribe.”
Do not read this as the Cross of Consciousness. “We still have the 64-63, but this is not the Cross of Consciousness so do not confuse them. And this is why this is the most confusing of all harmonic profiles.”
Ra’s own image for what it is fixed on is a curriculum. “what it puts out is a dumbed down, tribal educational program that tries to make sense out of very complex and confusing things and feed them to the tribe. And all that breeds is more confusion.”
His example is a village. “We’re going to take this little village in the middle of Africa and we’re going to create Silicon Valley here. We’re going to change it all… You end up with an enormous confusion field.”
And the structural warning underneath the cross. “It isn’t that their heart isn’t in the right place. It’s just that they don’t have a heart. There’s no 21 in this.”
The 26 sets the tone of that pairing. “the 26th gate is just the thymus gland. It’s T cells, it’s a killing machine.” Ra’s verdict: “the 26 and the 45 is a risky combination.”
Left Angle Cross of Dominion 2 — Gates 64/63 | 45/26
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The 5th line is Promise, and the promise is educational. “the promise is that the mind somehow can penetrate this, can find a solution and then teach it to the people.”
The method is seduction. “If you want somebody who’s going to do a better job educating than the 4/1, because the 4/1 is just going to dump everything at once… The 5/1 is trickier. The 5/1 seduces you to that.”
Ra names the content of the heresy. “this heretic comes along and says, all right, what we’re going to do is educate you so you can actually take my job and rule the tribe.” Then he names the catch: “Now, you damn well that’s a lie. The 45 and the 26 don’t go along with that. But the 64-63 realizes it’s true.”
Under duality the demand shifts from consciousness to values. “Here it is not about I want somebody that shares my consciousness, it’s I want somebody who shares my values. It’s easier.”
And the hard line about what that produces. “This is more than heresy. This is heresy that is backed by the law… that shared values make up for shared stupidity.”
The 5/2 keeps the promise for itself. “If you’re a 5/2 here, the best you can do is make that promise to yourself.” Ra on why: “5/2s and 2/5s you rarely seen them concretizing their profiles. It’s normally behind closed doors.”
The 6/2 has a different job and a specific distortion. “people on this cross think that they have a right to tell everybody what to do. They consider themselves to be kings of the world… they are convinced that they are the leaders, because they’re the only ones who understand that nothing is understandable.” Ra’s structural note: “whenever you see a leader that’s a 6/2 you have to realize they’re in a bubble, a 2nd line bubble, cut off.”
What the 6th line reaches in the end is something other than dominion. “What you think is not yours. It does not belong to you. You do not own it. It is not parked. It is flying through.”
What holds across all three
Gate 64 supplies pressure, and nothing here resolves it. “It is not up to the 64 to make sense out of it. It is up to the 64 to inspire making sense out of it.”
Alone it does nothing at all. “the 64 brings its demand for consciousness, it could only work in context of the 47. After all, alone it’s nothing.”
The Right Angle takes the sequences in and stays self-absorbed and confused. The Juxtaposition feeds a simplified version to the tribe and manufactures more confusion. The Left Angle sells the promise of education and uses it to hold position.
Two Ra statements about where the anxiety lives sit next to each other here, unmerged. In the Taos course, of the Head: “it carries stress. In other words, it creates stress, that’s its job. And the stress that it creates is the stress that we call anxiety. It’s created by the Head Center.” In Rave Anatomy II and Life Companion the anxiety belongs to the Ajna gates, which absorb the shock: “The first thing to understand about these gates in the Ajna is that they’re shock absorbers.”
The most common piece of advice attached to this gate is the one Ra contradicts: what arrives is for sharing. “It may also be tempting to react in some way once the clarity arrives, but these ‘aha’s’ are for sharing, not acting upon.”
Success runs through Strategy and Authority, and Ra ties it to the mind’s rank. “The moment the mind is not the authority in the life, this is still streaming with all the images but that streaming does not lead to stress at the mental level.”

The Ajna is not a motor and this gate does not act. It works on stored visual memory that arrives in pieces. The Definitive Book gives the picture: “If Gate 64 is the one who remembers the disorganized collection of film clips that passes through its life, then Gate 47 is the editor who attempts to assemble them all into a meaningful slice of human experience.”
Its harmonic gate is 64 in the Head. Together they form the 64-47, the Channel of Abstraction, a Design of Mental Activity mixed with Clarity. Sensing circuit, Collective, projected.
Ra explains why the hexagram is called Oppression when the channel promises clarity. “It is oppression because one of the most difficult things for human beings to do is to make sense out of what it is to be human.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Ra opens the whole 47 section by pointing at the contradiction. “I want to realign you to the irony that here we have this 47th gate, which is a deep mental gate, and it’s only concern is the mundane material plane.”
There is a mechanical reason for that. “the only way the 47th gate can relieve itself from anxiety is that the 47th gate needs to concretize in action, needs to concretize in material.”
So the two ends of the channel look in opposite directions. “Let the 64 look up into the sky. The 47 doesn’t look up into the sky, the 47 looks immediately into its pocket. And if there isn’t anything in its pocket, it gets really upset.”
He does not leave that abstract. “There is an enormous difference between being middle-class 47th gate and poverty 47th gate. If you’re poor and you’ve got the 47th gate it really hurts you.”
And this quarter is harder on all of it than the other three. Ra: “duality being the one quarter where there is no resolution is the most difficult for the not-self to deal with.” In the Quarters and Angles material he names what the bond has to cross: “the illusion of our separateness.”
Right Angle Cross of Rulership 3 — Gates 47/22 | 45/26
Personal Destiny. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6. The Right Angle does the research.
The purpose is in the four gates, and Ra counts them out. “What is rulership? Rulership is four gates.” Two of them are already known: “The 45 is a natural ruler, the 26 is a propagandist and enforcer.”
The other two change what rulership means. “the 22 is about listening. In other words, if you’re going to be a good ruler you need more than just muscle. You’re not going to just be able to hold people by being able to coerce them.” The 47 supplies the making sense.
Note what is missing from that list. “Do you notice something about rulership? It’s not individual, it’s not logical.” Ra puts his own teaching on the other side of the line: “It’s what I teach. I say you’re here to be your own authority. It’s just logical. But rulership is not logical.”
Then the sentence that decides how to read this whole cross. “Rulership is about money.”
That lands directly in the bond. “somebody comes in on the Cross of Rulership; they are not going to share authority with their partner. The Cross of Rulership says I’m the boss.” And he blocks the obvious objection: “This is not gender related.”
The mundane version of that is blunt. “I pay, I rule.” Ra: “I don’t mind flying in space with you. I don’t even mind looking after you, but I pay, I rule.”
Where it starts is small and close. “Rulership begins at home. I am the king of my castle.”
One part of this cross rarely gets quoted. If you carry a 3 in your profile on this cross, Ra’s read of the not-self version is “the chances are as not-self that you’ve just got a fucked up head. You just have a mind that is disturbed because you can have so many things that bother you that are unresolved because we’ve already learned that there is no resolution.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression — Gates 47/22 | 12/11
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The first thing to see is what left. “what we have lost is that the king and his soldier, the queen and her army are gone; no 45, no 26. We don’t have any potential for rulership anymore. It’s out of window. We’re not trying to manipulate the material plane anymore.”
What arrives instead is a mutative pair. “the 11 and the 12 is one of the most extraordinary binaries we have in the wheel.” Ra names them: “The 12th gate is the gate of articulation; the 11th gate, the gate of ideas.”
That changes the job from governing to opening. The work is “trying to open people up, trying to open them up to an understanding that in the end that all of oppression is an illusion.”
Ra states the realization itself in his own teaching language. “It’s the illusion that I teach you, that oppression is the movie but not the truth. It’s just the movie.”
He also caps how loudly a 4/1 here is likely to deliver it. Looking at the first lines of 12 and 11: “I know, I have both my Uranus’ in the 12.1, it is a hermit, it is very, very cautious, and it is not social. It’s not like this is a force that is really ready to deliver a message.”
So the fixation is the realization, and the broadcast is a different job. “Yet, it understands one thing and one thing clearly that all of the duality is clouded by oppression, and that the only way to get beyond the oppression is to realize that the oppression is an illusion.”
Left Angle Cross of Informing 2 — Gates 47/22 | 12/11
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
Same four gates as the Juxtaposition, different angle, and one mechanical fact drives the name. “It is informing because we have an automatic definition. We have the 12th gate and the 22nd gate.”
Ra says what that definition carries, and he leaves both doors open. “this is a cross that carries a life force and this life force is the social or antisocial transmission of mutation; or not.”
The 5/1 gets the line everyone wants and nobody should want. The 47.5 is The Saint: “The gift of oppression to maintain without hypocrisy a harmonic relationship with one’s oppressors, while providing aid and succor to the oppressed.” Ra on carrying it: “Oh, man, what a line to carry.”
The teaching underneath it inverts what most people expect from a cross about oppression. “if you want to get rid of oppression then you simply have to accept that oppression exists. And as long as you accept that it exists, you don’t have to get rid of it. It doesn’t matter.”
He is honest about the market for it. “It’s no fun being a saint in a free society. But if you’re a saint in a repressed society, wow, that’s great, I can be saintly.” And on himself: “Look how nice I treat you. I eat lunch with not-self people. And I don’t even remind you that; aren’t I sweet.”
The 5/2 does not do that job. “Where the 5/1 can find joy in acceptance, the 5/2 can only find joy in not being measured. This is probably the most reclusive configuration for the 5/2.” Only someone who touches them deeply enough draws them out, by their own motivation.
The 6/2 works from a different position entirely, the 47.6, Futility. “it’s not so much that you simply accept, it’s that you work from the level that it’s all pointless, it’s futile.” Ra: “Here you see the birth of 6th line hypocrisy.”
That hypocrisy has a function. The 6/2 tells others that partnership is worth it while living something else, “because I’m going to assume that there is always a possibility that maybe it will work for them.”
The 6/3 is the strongest placement of the four. “The 6/3 in this position is at its very best. Imagine being a 6/3 with a line of futility. It’s like, I knew it, I got it, and here it is.” And it hands the problem on: “Why don’t we turn this over to the emotions?”
The general law of the angle still applies. Ra: “The right angle does the research and the left angle does the propagandizing. This is the basic law of every hexagram.” Read the four profiles before you apply it evenly.
What holds across all three
Gate 47 is the editor. What it edits is the past, and what it wants out of the past is something material.
The Right Angle turns that into rulership, and rulership here is money, authority and who is the boss at home. The Juxtaposition drops the crown, picks up ideas and articulation, and fixes on one realization: the oppression is a movie. The Left Angle informs, and the informing runs from the saint’s acceptance through the recluse, the hypocrite and the 6/3 who passes it to the emotional system.
None of it resolves. “This life force does not recognize absolutes. It does not.” And the clarity that does arrive is not certainty: “despite the fact that you ‘get’ in that moment of clarity doesn’t mean you ever get certainty. You don’t.”
So the correct operation is restraint. “There is only waiting, waiting for the moment of realization, ah ha.” The Definitive Book puts the same thing as a practice: “The secret is to avoid the pressure to act on every conclusion that comes to you, and simply enjoy the array of possibilities that move through your active mind, until one stands out.”
Everything else runs through Strategy and Authority. The mind here is an outer authority and never the decision maker.

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Friction: “The fundamental design component of progress. The law that growth cannot exist without friction.” It is the only Solar Plexus gate that does not sit in the Quarter of Initiation.
This gate runs the emotional system. Ra: “it is the 6th Gate that, in essence, is the controller of the Solar Plexus system, as the 50 is the controller of the Spleen.” And it came first: “the 6th gate is literally what was there to build the Solar Plexus Center.”
Its biology is pH. “It is PH that keeps our outside/outside and our inside/inside. It establishes the boundary of the body.” The Rave I Ching gives the same job socially: “Who is in and who is out, who can penetrate or be penetrated is the work of this gate.”
Its harmonic gate is 59 in the Sacral. Together they form the 59-6, the Channel of Mating, a design focused on reproduction. Defense circuit, tribal, generated.
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Ra hangs the biological imperative of this quarter on these two gates by name. “You’ve got the 59 and the 6. You’ve got the biological imperative of saying we must reproduce. And if we’re going to reproduce we have to reproduce.”
Bonding here runs on competition. “bonding leads to competition. Bonding itself is competitive.” He means it in the gene selection sense: “there is this determination to find not simply a mate, but the best mate.”
Inside the gate section Ra names who does the deciding. “the 59 doesn’t decide. It doesn’t decide whether one’s going to be fertile or not. It doesn’t decide whom to bond with or not; it’s just simply available.” The 6 decides. “the 6 is where we decide who we’re going to be stuck with. And the deepest glue of all is the glue of fertility.”
Then Ra states the dilemma. “one of the deepest dilemmas that we have is that the way in which we meet on the physical plane, the concretized plane, is through a bonding mechanism that is unaware and only emotional.”
Ra does not offer a way around it. “the odds are stacked against us. They’re really bad. I wouldn’t bet on having a break from that.”
Right Angle Cross of Eden 3 — Gates 6/36 | 12/11
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The instruction on this cross is genetic and blunt. Ra stages the meeting himself: “you say, hello there, we have the Right Angle Cross of Eden, it’s a good place, eh? Go forth and multiply. Here we are, okay, and how do we do it? How do we make it work? I don’t know.”
Eden is two things. “Eden is about two things. It’s about the pursuit of knowledge and multiplication.” The multiplication half lands on the Right Angle.
And it lands with an eviction. “You must go forth and multiply. And people who come in on the Cross of Eden are always thrown out into the wilderness. And it can be very lonely, you want somebody with you.”
The profiles do not share one job here. Ra on the 1/3: “you know what their job is. To find out how unstable any bond is, to recognize there is no real foundation to the bond.” He gives the mundane version too: “you’re really here to find out in your life what goes wrong in relationships.”
The 3rd line carries the fertility. “the 3rd line is the only line that says if you hook up with a 59 you can really produce.” Ra: “Genes love the 3rd line. The 3rd line will have a child with anything.”
The 2/4 gets the hardest ride. “one of the things about Eden is that it’s not allowed”, so “you’ll find a lot of very uncomfortable 2/4s on the Cross of Eden because there are constantly people trying to pull them out.”
The 4/6 gets the most honest description Ra gives any profile on this cross. “the solution is very simple. I’ll be kind to you as long as I’m in power. If I’m not in power I’m going to be mean.” And: “Only if I’m in power will I have a child with you.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Conflict — Gates 6/36 | 15/10
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Something new arrives underneath this cross. “suddenly in the background, just a little bit comes this theme of love.” The 10 and the 15 carry it: “the 10th gate of Behavior, the 15th gate of the Rhythm, and in that rhythm that is the love of humanity and the potential to love humanity, and the 10th gate is the potential to love oneself.”
Then Ra turns it over. “in the not-self it’s very easy to hate yourself and hate humanity.”
That is where the fixation sits. “one of the difficulties of this Juxtaposition Cross of Conflict is that it understands that it has to be an absolute power because it doesn’t like people. It doesn’t like them. It doesn’t like the way they act.”
So the bonding gets conditional and the conditions get specific. “Here it gets very picky. I don’t like your frequency. I don’t like the way you act.”
Ra’s line for what this cross says out loud: “I am only going to have a child with you if I can teach you how to behave. I am only going to have a relationship with you if I can get you to function in a way that is acceptable to me.”
On where the 4/1 sits in the machine, Ra states the law plainly. “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.” The 4/1 is the link between them, “a way of bringing together the personal process of the Right Angle and transforming it into the Left Angle propaganda and marketing.”
And the condition that decides whether it holds. “you have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
Left Angle Cross of the Plane 2 — Gates 6/36 | 15/10
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The theme changes at the angle. “You can see right away that these people are not on the Cross of Eden anymore and multiplying is not the theme.”
They take the other half of Eden. “the other side of the Eden story is knowledge, and it will lead to the Cross of the Plane. It is on the Cross of the Plane that we gain the knowledge of the world.”
What emerges at the 6.5, Arbitration, is not romance yet. “you begin to see the emergence of love. And love not as romance, not yet. But love as direction.”
The knowledge comes through the other person. “There is so much to learn and who are you going to learn it from? You’re going to learn it from the other.” Ra lands it where a lot of people live: “I may not like my partner, I may have problems with my partner, but my partner is also my teacher.”
That is the heresy of this cross, stated by Ra as the cross itself talking. “yes, I know I’m supposed to be here to be open to sexual reproduction, but actually I’m more interested in finding out about other things.”
Read the profiles before you spread this evenly. “The 5/1 is the only true exponent of the left angle. It’s the only one that sells it.”
The 5/2 works from behind glass. “The 5/2 is so obsessed with avoiding conflict that basically you can consider them stillborn.” Ra’s modern picture of one working well is “the 5/2 blogger that you never see that’s pumping out this wonderful stuff.”
The 6/2 and 6/3 arrive at conditions instead of partners. “they bring an understanding that it’s all about the conditions upon which we meet.” And the first condition Ra names: “the first condition that must be eliminated is that you’re meeting to reproduce. Number one, get rid of that.”
He does not soften what a 6 does with that. “my way or the highway. Just like that.”
What holds across all three
Gate 6 is the decision point of bonding. The three angles put it to different work.
The Right Angle multiplies and finds out what a bond is made of. The Juxtaposition holds absolute power over the conditions and refuses anyone who does not meet them. The Left Angle drops reproduction and goes after knowledge of the world instead.
None of that works on a good idea in the moment. Ra: “there’s no truth in the now” for an emotional being, and for this channel he gives one strategy: “The strategy of an emotional Generator is to play hard to get.”
He also names what the emotional system can and cannot deliver. “the emotional system could never provide anything but clarity; it can never provide an absolute. There are no absolutes in relationship; it’s not possible.”
Success in every configuration runs through Strategy and Authority. Waiting out the wave is the whole discernment.

Gate 46 sits in the G Center, in the Quarter of Duality, where purpose is fulfilled through Bonding.
Ra’s keynote is the Gate of the Determination of the Self: “Good fortune that may be perceived as the result of serendipity but derives from effort and dedication.” He says the whole gate turns on three words in that line. “People never read the lines, never really read them. What does ‘may be perceived’ mean?… You can call it serendipity and you can call it George and you can call it Aunt Louise, you can call it luck, you can call it helplessness, you can call it choicelessness.”
This is the love of the body. “This is not the generalized aura, but this is the physical body of humanity, which is our vehicles. The spiritual nature of the body is the body as a temple, that the flesh, to be in a body, is a holy thing.”
And it is the gate of no choice. “I think that the 46th gate is the only gate that teaches no choice… In the 46th gate you can truly see choicelessness.”
Most write-ups leave one thing out of this gate, and it changes how the whole page reads. “It is the lead hexagram. It is the framer of all fear and all fear is in the body.” The next seven gates in the wheel are all splenic, and Ra says every one of them comes out of this one.
Its harmonic gate is 29, the Gate of Saying Yes, in the Sacral. Together they form the 46-29, the Channel of Discovery, a design of succeeding where others fail. Sensing circuit, the abstract half of the Collective, generated.
Ra calls it the most existential force in the BodyGraph. “What the 46 is all about is being in the experience that brings the good fortune, not necessarily the experience itself. This is what so few understand. If you look for something to come of your life, nothing will come, but if you are in your life, everything is possible.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
The 46 sits in the middle of the bonding quarter and declines its terms. Ra: “the 46 sits in the middle of this duality realm and isn’t interested in duality. You notice that the way I describe it, it’s not interested in duality. It accepts duality.”
Its answer to the pair works on the one. “For it it’s clear that the only way that duality works is not by figuring out the 2, but enlightening the 1.”
That lands on partnership as no pursuit at all. Ra on the 3/5 here: “if there is ever going to be somebody for me it will happen. They learn that you can’t pursue it.”
And this is the one abstract channel with no relationship to the past. “There is one channel in the whole abstract circuit that has absolutely nothing to do with the past. It’s here. It’s all about being totally in the experience. This is where discovery is.”
Right Angle Cross of the Vessel of Love 3 — Gates 46/25 | 15/10
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
Ra splits the four gates of the Vessel precisely, and the 46 gets one job only. “It is, in fact, the vessel itself; the physical vessel is the 46. It’s not the aura, which is the 15. It’s not the lip where the 10 comes out. It’s not the 25 that is the blood of life that fills it. It is the vessel; nothing else.”
The instruction for the whole cross is in the first line, Being Discovered. “Dedication in obscurity that is unexpectedly discovered. All that’s saying is that stay alive, you never know.” And then the sting: “Being discovered has nothing to do with what you do.”
Ra reduces it to a daily act. “You get up in the morning and you go through the day. This is what the 46 teaches.”
The 2/4 gets the Prima Donna and the vanity that comes with luck. “There you are going along minding your own business and you get lucky. And in getting lucky you assume that you’re responsible.” His verdict is short: “Specialness is a disease in humanity.”
The 2/5 hides the same thing. “They don’t want anybody to know, because they don’t know how to tell anybody why; and at the same time, they’re paranoid that it will be taken away.”
The 3/5 gets Projection, and Ra says this is a good position for them. “This is more like having a telescope and wanting to see down the track and wanting to see where good fortune is going to be.” Their problem is the 5th line underneath: “I’m not a lucky person, they’ll say. These things never happen to me.”
The 3/6 knows how it works and does not enjoy the knowledge. “The 3/6 knows that things just happen but doesn’t necessarily like it.”
The 4/6 gets Impact, and its gift is influence. “Their power is to influence others to be determined. That is the power. And it’s their power in relationship.” Ra also names the dark side: “a Plutonian reaction to achievement that tends to bite off the hand that fed it.”
One line on this cross is hard to hear. “The 46 says I want to tell you right from the beginning, if you don’t live life for the sake of life you’re going to be frightened, you’re going to be alone and it’s not going to be pleasant. It’s what it says.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Serendipity — Gates 46/25 | 52/58
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The 15 and the 10 drop out and two Root gates come in. Ra: “we move into the 58-52, we move into the heart of logic.” 52 is the Gate of Inaction, Keeping Still, and 58 is the Gate of Aliveness, which the Definitive Book also names the Gate of Vitality.
What that does to the cross is mechanical. “The Juxtaposition Cross of Serendipity is a pressure cooker… this is all about the energy to correct, the energy to perfect.”
Then Ra shows what logic does with luck when it gets hold of it. “Logic would say, well, if there are people who are lucky, we have to figure out why, what makes them lucky, how does this luck come to them, how can we get people into this situation where they can be lucky, too. It’s why lotteries are so successful.”
And this is the cross’s pitch, in his words, twice labeled as a pitch. “So, the Juxtaposition Cross of Serendipity says anybody, sales pitch, anybody can be in the right place at the right time. And of course, we know that everybody is already in the right place at the right time, they just don’t know that. What a sales pitch.”
The Juxtaposition is a bridge rather than a destiny of its own. Ra: “it is a way of bringing together the personal process of the Right Angle and transforming it into the Left Angle propaganda and marketing.”
And the condition that decides whether a 4/1 holds. “You have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
Left Angle Cross of Healing 2 — Gates 46/25 | 52/58
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
Start with Ra’s own correction, because the name of this cross misleads almost everyone. “Most people think that the Cross of Healing is about people being healers when it’s about healing. It’s not like somebody who carries the Cross of Healing is a healer. They’re not.”
He also names what is being healed. “The only thing that needs to be healed is fear, after all. Everything about waking up is freeing yourself from fear.”
And what produces well being. “There’s only one thing that brings well being, and it is a combination of pace and integrity. It is written in these lines. Now, the pace is not ours to choose.”
The 5/1 gets Pacing, and this is the heresy. “Proper rhythm, instinctive practicality, avoid radical divergence and stay with successful patterns, and you, too can be lucky.” Ra states the plan behind it plainly: “the heresy sets up this plan and the plan says that lucky means healthy.”
Then he takes it apart from inside. “How do you get to the proper rhythm when you’re the 46 and not the 15?… Where are the successful patterns? They have to be in logic, this is an abstract gate.” What is left when the rules go is the mechanic: “All you can do is follow a strategy that it is correct for you and you will see that everything else will fall into place.”
The 5/1 heresy is not popular, and Ra says so in its own voice. “They don’t like 46.5 heresies, never did. This is the ‘heal thyself you jerk, I don’t have any time for you.'”
The 5/2 does not preach it. “The 5/2 here with pacing, again that 5 will bring out all of their rejectionism.”
The 6/2 and 6/3 get Integrity, and it turns out to be about refusal. “The wisdom to secure one’s identity through careful consideration of the restrictive potential of commitments; the determination to say no to restrictive commitments.” Ra’s gloss: “Never accept anything that restricts you; nothing.”
That reverses the usual reading of this cross, so it belongs here in his words. “This is the lover that says, I don’t mind. I see that meeting you is something that’s happening, but I’m not going to make a commitment. It’ll ruin it.”
And what replaces the commitment is the thing the keynote named all along. “All I have is my movement with dedication and effort… You must be out there, you must be involved, and you must be in the heart of the life process. But surrendered, with no expectation, no pattern, no anything.”
What holds across all three
Gate 46 is the body, and choicelessness is its teaching. “Every single one of the lines of the 46 is themes of choicelessness. It’s all about choicelessness; it’s all about accepting the body.”
The three angles do different work with that. The Right Angle lives the experience for its own sake and gets discovered or does not. The Juxtaposition builds the pressure cooker and sells the promise that anyone can be in the right place at the right time.
The Left Angle carries the pacing heresy and the refusal of restrictive commitments.
The distortion is the same in all three, and Ra names it in one word. “Expectation is the curse of the abstract. At the moment there is an expectation that an experience is going to be a certain way, that’s the moment as an abstract person that you do stop in the middle.”
The body pays for it. “Any lack of love of the body will distort the body physically. The distortion of the body begins in the liver.” The Rave I Ching states the cycle version: “unless the abstract being can accept and commit themselves to the cyclic nature of their lives, their bodies will begin to fail under the stress of constant crisis, disappointment and upheaval.”
One caution on terms: perseverance and commitment belong to the harmonic gate. Ra: “The 46th gate isn’t a gate of making commitment. The 29th gate is the gate of making commitment. The 46th gate doesn’t know how to say yes or no.”
That is why entry has to come through response. “The moment that the 46-29 is not living out its Generator role, the moment it’s not waiting for that opportunity to respond, to recognize what to enter into, it can’t be purely in the experience and as a result will fail.” Strategy and Authority decides what you fall into, and then there is no changing horses in the middle of the stream.

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Correction: “The vigilance and determination to uphold and defend basic and fundamental human rights.” He calls that “a wonderful slogan for a gate.”
At the root of it is one fear. “the 18th gate is the fear of authority. It is the fear of authority. And basically it is the fear of authority that is unsafe.” The first authority anyone meets is a parent, which is why Ra calls it “the Oedipus and Electra complex.”
What it is aware of is what is vital, and Ra means that as a pun. “the potential of correction, and it is awareness of what is vital or not… Vital, in that sense, means what is important, what is absolutely necessary to correct.” His condition on it is strict: “If the correction is not going to bring you a sense of value, if it is not vital, leave it alone.”
Its harmonic gate is 58 in the Root. Together they form the 18-58, the Channel of Judgment, a Design of Insatiability. Understanding circuit, collective logic, projected.
Projected means the correction has to be invited. “It’s a beautiful gift, but at the same time it has to be invited and only when it’s invited can it become personal.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Here logic tries to make duality survivable instead of escaping it. Ra: “Logic looks at duality and says this doesn’t work; let’s find a pattern that makes it survivable.”
That sets the whole job. “the 18th gate says this is the way it is. Now, what we have to do is not try to destroy what it is, but perfect what it is.”
And Ra warns off the goal people usually assume. “perfection is always the carrot just beyond your nose… please recognize that the goal is not perfection, because that would be a killer.”
He also gives the gate its preferred title, with the alternative attached. “if you want to make it feel better when you hear it you can call it a perfecting process, which the 18/58’s themselves would prefer as a label, instead of bitch. Just call me the great perfector.”
Right Angle Cross of Service 3 — Gates 18/17 | 52/58
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
This cross comes with its own engine. “the 18 is going to form a definition with the 58 so you have a cross that has a built-in life force and the life force is judgment and dissatisfaction.”
The archetype under correction is the bond itself. Ra on the 1/3: “the 1/3 looks at the foundation, sees that its mother and father get divorced… they are going to challenge the authority of their parents.”
He puts the target in plain words. “in that case, the best thing you can do was correct the patriarch. Only a 1/3 has the balls to do that.” And he does not leave the consequence out: “The daughter in India that tells her father that she is marrying somebody from the cast below and fuck him, she wants her rights, he’s going to have her burnt today, now. We live in an ugly world.”
The 1/4 does not challenge it, it inherits it. “If there is a rigid father, whether you’re the daughter or the son, you’re only going to accept a relationship where there is a rigid father.”
The 2/4 gets the line Ra calls Terminal Disease, and it is where logic meets God. “The recognition that what has been spoiled is irreversible… You can’t fix it so don’t try.” His picture of the missionary version: “brother, sister fear God. We are unable to correct the way. We need God’s light to do that.”
The 2/5 carries a projection it cannot satisfy. “there’s actually a projection on them that despite the fact that they say it can’t be fixed that somehow there’s the assumption that they can fix it. That in fact, they can communicate with God.”
The 3/5 is the Zealot, and Ra rates the criticism highly. “the most accurate criticism you’re going to find anywhere; but, it is very, very uncomfortable. You don’t want an 18.3 trying to clean you.” Turned personal it becomes a marriage: “you’ve got yourself a partner that is going to correct you to death; until death do you part.”
The 3/6 is working on the fear underneath the whole gate. “there is always this underlying fear that there is a greater authority that will show up that will smash you, that will punish you if you have not been correct.”
The 4/6 gets the line called The Incompetent, and Ra means it structurally. “the 4, in and of itself, cannot correct anything. It can’t, but it can influence you to see that maybe out of influencing you, you can correct something.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Correction — Gates 18/17 | 39/38
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The fuel changes here and it changes hard. “we’re shifting to the 38 and the 39. We are shifting to trouble. The 58-52 are pussycats compared to the 38-39.”
Ra rates that pair as the source of individual drive. “Without the 38 there is no empowerment of purpose. And without the 39 there is no empowerment of spirit. And there is no polarity that is more provocative, more in-your-face, pushier than the 38-39.”
Put collective fear of authority on top of an individual that pushy and you get his name for the cross. “the juxtaposition cross of in-your-face, beat you up, kick you. Oh sorry, correction, you know.”
There is a specific reason it hurts. “nothing is more frightening to the individual than collective authority, nothing, because you know damn well that the collective does not care about your idiosyncrasy.”
And the authority it picks is not the one the Right Angle picked. “this says, what God, you crazy. I’m not afraid of God; I’m afraid of you, you idiot. I’m concerned about the mayor of the city, the President of the United States; don’t even bother me with God business.”
What is at stake is the thing the 38 is fueling. “There are these people getting in the way of me fulfilling my creative destiny. I’m not afraid of God. I’m afraid of the government.”
Left Angle Cross of Upheaval 2 — Gates 18/17 | 39/38
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The angle turns the correction over. “We get to the Left Angle Cross of Upheaval. Let’s just turn it all upside down.”
The 5th line here is Therapy. “the strength to recognize a problem and to accept that it’s beyond one’s power to solve it alone. The wisdom to both seek and provide guidance.”
Ra explains why therapy sits on a splenic gate. “The spleen is not about feeling, it’s not emotions. It’s about intelligence.” So: “what the 5 is saying is that what we can do is that we can use our intelligence, and we can use our intelligence to heal ourselves, to save ourselves from fear.”
The whole industry follows from that. “No matter what you may think of therapy in any shape or form, if you look at why it exists, it exists to ameliorate fear.”
The 5/2 is unusually well placed. “This is one of the places where a 5/2 can be at their best… 5/2s can be wonderful therapists. It’s one of the few places where it really suits their profile.”
The 6/2 and 6/3 do something else entirely, and Ra says the line is misread. “we get to this line of Buddhahood, the perfected form. If there was ever a bullshit line, it’s this one, in the sense that it’s deeply misunderstood.”
What the 6th line wants is to be spoiled. “The 6th line says there’s nothing to fix. Why don’t you just treat me as if I’m the best thing that ever happened?” Ra’s practical instruction: “If you don’t spoil an 18.6, you’re going to have a terrible relationship with them. It’s just that simple.”
Read at the level of the cross rather than the couple, that reverses into the transpersonal job. “we need to spoil those that need to be spoiled. Those that are disenfranchised, those that are not educated, those who don’t have clean water, those that don’t have education, those that don’t have security.”
Ra does not sell the method as gentle. “Upheaval; therapy does the same thing. It’s a rape, after all… You get a real upheaval, you get wrenched around.”
What holds across all three
Ra names the three crosses as one moving cycle. “this process, the 18th gate, service, correction, upheaval; service, correction, upheaval as a cycle. It’s just a cycle.”
The Right Angle researches the archetype and corrects the pattern it was raised inside. The Juxtaposition takes the individual’s pressure and aims it at the government instead of at God. The Left Angle turns the whole thing over and hands the correction back as therapy, or as being spoiled.
What they are all working toward is bigger than any one person. “human rights are not a given, they must be earned. They must be developed through a long process of correction, challenge.”
And the one condition that decides whether any of it lands. “if they tell me, ‘That’s not right, the way you squeeze the toothpaste,’ I’d tell them where to go, fast.”
Success in every configuration runs through Strategy and Authority. Wait for the invitation, keep the correction collective, and identify with the perfecting rather than the perfection.

The Spleen is our oldest awareness and it is not a motor. Nothing here is generated and nothing here is manifested. Ra: “It’s a well, after all. It’s just a well. And there is no bucket.”
Its harmonic gate is 16 in the Throat, Enthusiasm, the Gate of Skills. Together they form the 48-16, the Channel of the Wave Length, a Design of Talent. Understanding circuit, Collective logic, projected.
Every splenic gate is a gate of fear, and this one has a name. Ra: “Fear of inadequacy is the fear here.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
All seven Splenic gates sit in this quarter. Ra: “Notice that the Channel of Discovery and Mating, plus all seven gates of the Spleen, with its survival intelligence, are located here.”
So the fear lands on the bond first. “it’s one of the things to understand in this context of duality is that the 48th gate is the great gate of inadequacy. This is the enormous fear of inadequacy.”
And it does not stay inside. “in the context of duality, this 48th gate is putting the fear of inadequacy into every one. Oh, boy can I make you feel inadequate. You know it; in a moment, in a breath. And what I demand of you is that you learn new skills.”
Ra applies that to his own generation. “Why do you think there is so much divorce in my generation, we all have Neptune in the 48, we all made our partners feel inadequate, all of us.”
One correction before anything else. “Depth is innate. You don’t become deep.” And: “everybody thinks that because they read a thousand books they’ve made themselves deep. But if you don’t have the depth in the first place, those thousand books are flushed as they go through.”
Whose well it is matters too. “It is a collective well, not a tribal well, not an individual personal well, this is the collective well, and it is open to all.”
Right Angle Cross of Tension 3 — Gates 48/21 | 39/38
Personal Destiny. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6. The Right Angle does the research.
The cross is named for what its four arms do, and Ra assigns each one. “each of these four arms are there to bring tension to the other through the harmonic gates. The 38 brings the demand for purpose in the other. The 39 provokes the spirit in the other. The 48 brings skills to the other. And the 21 keeps the tribe happy.”
For Gate 48 the target is specific. “the prime provocation here is the 48 to the 16. In other words, where the hell are the skills that can take my depth and out of that we have an expression of talent.”
This part gets written backwards everywhere. Ra does not say these people discharge their tension outward. “One thing you have to understand about the Cross of Tension people is that they’re not allowed to put their tension into the other, they keep it themselves. It’s very simple.”
The not-self result is physical and visible. “it’s very easy to see Cross of Tension people walking around not-self because they’re so stiff. They’re just stiff. And they’re wired and it’s because they’re not getting the tension out.”
He gives the reason it stays in. “The reason they’re not getting the tension out is they’re so uncomfortable for what they get back. They don’t want to put tension into others because they get this horrendous response. They’re resented, disliked for it.”
That makes the bond a mechanical question. “You’ll notice with Cross of Tension people that if they don’t have partners that at least have harmonics to half of their cross, and it doesn’t mean it has to be to the polarity, whatever, at least two, it’s awful, because there is no natural connection to the provocation.”
What the depth is for is settled by the keynote. “The common good; and you can see why we move from Buddhahood, spoiling, to this well.” Ra on himself: “If you’re a scientist and you’re logical and you’ve got the 48th gate, what do you do? You give it away. Whatever you know, you give it away.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Depth — Gates 48/21 | 53/54
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Ra’s own image for these crosses is mechanical. “The turning wheel of juxtaposition, I love juxtaposition crosses. For me they’re transistors, they’re so wonderful.”
What shifts is the unconscious pair. The 39/38 provocation goes and the 53/54 arrives, and the difference shows up in the aura. “When you meet a Right Angle Cross of Tension 48 Sun you know it. They’re right in your face, you feel inadequate. Then you meet a Juxtaposition Cross of Depth and all you want to do is learn how to be adequate.”
Ra names what the new gates substitute. “we’re not going to restructure you the 38-39 way; we’re not going to give you a purpose, we’re not going to give you spirit, we’re going to say be ambitious.” And the 53: “You can be transformed by entering into a new experience.”
The fixation that produces is very specific. “you’re dealing with someone who always thinks that the only way to change their life is to study something new.”
Ra gives it a name most people will recognize. “If you’re looking for a theme of the midlife crisis, this is the juxtaposition cross of the midlife crisis.”
He is also honest about how much of it gets built. “It’s normally not very successful, other than the fact that it’s a 4/1 configuration so you have all this deep studying going on, not a hell of a lot gets done.”
The transfer happens anyway, which is what a Juxtaposition is for. “these are people that could be instrumental in getting other people to do the same thing. They can be very influential in saying to somebody, why don’t you just change your life.”
Left Angle Cross of Endeavor 2 — Gates 48/21 | 53/54
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
Same four gates as the Juxtaposition, different angle. The 48.5 sets the theme: “Action: The natural urge to apply energy to action; a taste for action.”
And immediately the problem. “The 48th gate is a deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply frustrated gate. Why? Any student of circuitry mechanics knows that even when the 48th gate gets to the 16, the best they can do is talk. After all, the spleen is not a motor; this is not a manifesting channel. This is a projected channel.”
Ra’s image for the whole gate lands hardest here. “There you are with your depth. I can turn straw into gold, but nobody will hear me.”
The 5/1 carries the heresy of the cross. “the nature of the 5/1 is that the 5/1 is heretical in that it demands that the well be allowed to be revealed and that everybody can drink from it.” Ra then says what that has cost: “in the not-self sense, this has been very, very unhealthy in the sense that it’s made it ever more difficult for us to penetrate the not-self.”
Which is why he puts a limit on the pouring. “The thing to understand about the well is that it’s salt water. At the very bottom of the well you have salt. It’s from the 18. You don’t want to drink all that.” And: “You don’t want to take everything in the well and put it out there. You don’t. It creates chaos and confusion.”
The 5/2 does not demand it. This profile carries the Moon in detriment, “insecurity with one’s depth that can fail to take action,” and Ra says why. “5/2s and even 5/1s here, but particularly 5/2s, are afraid of the consequences of telling somebody that they’re inadequate.”
He also puts the whole 5th line theme in one modern picture. “Imagine how inadequate that makes humanity feel… Google world, this is Google world gone mad.”
The 6/2 starts from nothing. “Remember, Buddhahood, they have no depth. They’re born with an empty well. It’s a dry well.” The keynote is Self-fulfillment, the undiminishable resource, and Ra loves the contradiction: “The empty well, an undiminishable resource. You just leave it there.”
What that produces, if the process runs, is a shift in ownership. “I am not the well; it is the well, it is the source. It’s an illusion that it’s my well. It is the source.” The first cycle is not pleasant: “there is a panic inside of you, because the failure in experience convinces you that you have no depth.”
The 6/3 closes the gate and the quarter’s logical stream. “remember that this is for common good so that you can see that in the left angle configuration of endeavor that the endeavors are there for the common good.”
And Ra puts the final line of the whole gate there. “The final wisdom in the depth of the 48 is to realize that everyone’s afraid of tomorrow. The fear of inadequacy is all about that they don’t think they’re adequate because they’re terrified of tomorrow. And that to be afraid of tomorrow is the most basic of all fears.”
What holds across all three
Gate 48 is depth without a motor. It collects, it does not act, and it cannot make itself heard.
The Right Angle holds the tension and provokes the 16 for skills, and takes the resentment that comes back. The Juxtaposition drops the provocation for ambition and moves people to start something new without building much itself. The Left Angle wants the well opened for everyone, which is the heresy and also the risk.
The channel is projected, so the correct move is waiting. The Definitive Book: “Relaxing into an active (expectant) waiting will usually draw people to you who will initiate your depth. In this way your potential solutions can emerge naturally and clearly as a foundation for evaluating, perfecting and mentoring the skills of others.”
And the depth is not the mind’s to grade. Ra: “Relax, you are deep. You cannot judge your depth from your mind… It is a depth that takes place at a lymphatic level. It has nothing to do with the way we think.”
Everything runs through Strategy and Authority. Ra on correctness with this gate: “only those things that have a right to come out of the well come out.”

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Intuitive Insight: “The extraordinary power of clarity.” The Definitive Book’s gate entry calls it the Gate of Intuitive Clarity instead, while its channel entries use Intuitive Insight. Both names are Ra-attributed, so both stay on the record.
The name is a trap and Ra says so himself. “The name the Gentle is a misnomer. This is an extremely yang energy, like the penetration of a chill breeze that can touch you to the bone.”
Every splenic gate carries a fear, and this one carries the oldest. “Each of the Splenic gates has an underlying fear, here, it is the Fear of Tomorrow.” Ra is precise about which kind: “It’s not a fear of the past. It’s not the fear of extinction. It’s the fear of the threat that’s not there yet.”
It is the most connected gate in the Spleen. “it opens up to three other gates instead of simply one. It’s opening up to the whole integration system. It is the fundamental awareness of individual survival.”
Three harmonic gates, three channels. 57-20, the Channel of the Brain Wave, a Design of Penetrating Awareness, projected. 57-34, the Channel of Power, a Design of an Archetype, generated.
57-10, the Channel of Perfected Form, a Design of Survival, projected. Knowing circuit and Integration.
The awareness is acoustic, and it has a side. “The awareness possibility is individuation, self consciousness, and the existential ear, the right ear. This is the ear that hears in the now.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Ra gives the 57 its assignment in this quarter in one line. “the 57th gate of duality, to use your intuition to penetrate the mystery of duality. There’s a lot of sex in that statement. It’s built into that.”
The quarter is blunt about what it wants. “The whole theme of duality is about our fertility and our bonding with the other. Make babies, says this Quarter. You built the house and the church and the school in the last Quarter and now you’ve got to fill it up.”
Then the complication. “When we get to the 57 we get to the very first individual gate in the quarter.” Individuality and bonding do not naturally get along.
Ra states the consequence without softening it. “if you’re not fortunate enough to have a 28 in your design your 57 operates in a way that really alienates it naturally from bonding.”
One gate changes that, and only one. “Only the 28 can make the 57 human. Only the 28 can bring out of the 57 true partnership. Only the 28 can give purpose to partnership.”
He includes himself in the diagnosis. “I have a very, very hard because I’m so 57-oriented that my relationship with the other is always about what I know about them in the moment through my spleen and nothing else. I don’t have real depth.”
Right Angle Cross of Penetration 3 — Gates 57/51 | 53/54
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The job is to break the surface and then stop. “The Cross of Penetration is just that— break the surface.”
Depth is not part of the design. “To be a penetrator is to have a very, very difficult process. You are never allowed to be deep. This is not the well.” And again: “This is intuition at its most precise on the surface momentary and weak.”
The seed is not theirs to plant. “what penetration does that penetration opens the Earth and the clarion plants the seed. But the Earth has to be broken first.”
They open the door and that is the whole gift. “they’re great at cracking people to be open to the planting of the seed. But don’t you dare ask them to tell you what it’s about. You’ll be so confused, because it’s so difficult for them. They can open the door, they can’t take you through.”
Ra’s restaurant story is the mechanic in miniature. Two men in matching suits walk in, his spleen says something’s wrong, and that is all it says. “That’s it; it penetrates, but it doesn’t elaborate. It’s not the mind, not at all.”
The confusion sits inside the cross. “So all penetrators are confused.” The Moon is in detriment on the first line, where “this confusion can overpower the intuition.”
The 1/3 is the strongest version. “If you want a penetrator and you want the best penetrator you can possibly find get yourself a Cross of Penetration 1/3, and you’ll know right away that there is nothing on earth like them. They can penetrate anything. The difficulty is the psychology.”
The 2s work the other way. The 57.2 is “about deafness. It’s about refusing to hear the truth”, and Ra’s illustration is his own studio, spotless on the surface with drawers you should not open.
The 3/5 gets the line Ra rates highest in the gate. “The perfected intelligence… You can hear what nobody else can hear. You can hear the breath of God.”
The 4/6 gets the mastery line and its detriment. “With the gift of clarity to master relationships, the possibility of being intuitively dictatorial.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Intuition — Gates 57/51 | 62/61
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Ra names what this cross bridges. “it is the Cross of Intuition that forms the bridge between penetration and the clarion.”
His own image for the fixation is agricultural. “penetration is going to break open the Earth, in that sense, and basically what intuition is rain. It’s rain. And then the clarion comes and drops in a seed.”
The 62 and the 61 change what the intuition is standing on. “we’re moving into the polarity of the 61 and the 62. So we have Inner Truth, and we have the Preponderance of the Small, this gate of detail, this metamorphic gate in the throat.”
Ra rates the cross high. “Clearly this juxtaposition cross is actually very, very powerful. And in here you really see the director/dictator potential in the sense of really being able to guide people from being penetrated to receiving the message.”
The motive underneath is self-preservation, and Ra does not dress it up. “4/1s are going to do their very best to master the relationships around them and to be able to master those relationships for their own survival; it is not anything more than the only way that they can care for themselves.”
The reason is mechanical. “without the presence of the 28/38 that the 57th gate can only effectively care for itself.”
Left Angle Cross of the Clarion 2 — Gates 57/51 | 62/61
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The clarion announces something that has already happened. “basically what it’s providing is that it’s simply announcing a mutation that already exists. It’s already announcing a mutation that is already there.” Ra’s own case: “I can only announce the mutation of Human Design when the mutation had already taken place.”
The heresy is specific, and it is about solitude. “The heresy is that there may be other ways to be alone and still have people in your life.”
The 5th line is Progression, and Ra likes the detriment better than the exaltation. “Moon in detriment: the misguided missile… When in action, the intuition may become overwhelmed and unable to assess and evaluate its progress.”
Read the four profiles separately, because Ra separates them.
The 5/2 announces nothing. “the 5/2 mutates spontaneously and doesn’t realize that everybody else is going to notice. And boy, they don’t like that. These are the people that other people say you’ve changed and they don’t know why.” And: “5/2s hide out.”
The 6/2 turns its head away from integration entirely. “instead of looking that way, it says, where’s the struggle, I want struggle.” What it is after: “I don’t care about the other, I want to know how to love. It’s the dream of the 57.”
The 6/3 goes to the tribe with the only offer it has. “The 6/3 says the best thing I can do is offer my genes to the tribe, because that’s what I see as the solution.”
One condition governs the whole angle. “if you’re emotional and you have this gate, it never works properly. It doesn’t. It can’t. It’s overwhelmed. And the only thing that will save you and bring it back… is being correct.”
What holds across all three
Nothing in this gate elaborates. “It only penetrates. It doesn’t deliver anything else.”
The Right Angle breaks the surface and walks away. The Juxtaposition is the rain between the break and the seed. The Left Angle announces a mutation that already took place.
The information arrives once. Ra’s own wording is harder than the version usually quoted: “the Spleen can never come back and say to you, excuse me, I just told you something. It can’t remind you. It can’t be rewound. It’s there and it’s gone.”
Two source notes belong here as they are. On which fear is primary, Ra in the Taos Channels Course puts it in the 57: “this is the prime gate of fear in the Splenic Center and it is the fear of tomorrow and out of that fear of tomorrow comes all the other fears.” In Life Companion he puts it in the 50: “the fear that is at the heart of all awareness is the fear of responsibility.”
On where “not knowing” lives, the sources also part. Life Companion places the awareness above the pressure in the Ajna, and the Ajna’s six gates each carry an anxiety, “fed by the fear of not knowing something, or the fear of being misunderstood.” In the individual stream Ra locates the same not-knowing as a pulse that surfaces in the Throat: “in the now the 20th Gate can only be decisive if it knows and cannot be decisive if it doesn’t know.” Both are Ra-attributed and this page does not merge them.
Success in every configuration runs through Strategy and Authority. “The Splenic Center demands that anybody who has splenic authority simply surrender to it, because you cannot grasp it, not from the mental plane.”

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Continuity: “The only thing which endures is change.” He calls that line the heart of the gate. “I guess it’s the deepest message of the 32; the only thing which endures is change.”
The fear is failure, and it saturates every line. “the fear of the 32nd gate is the fear of failure. Because it is the nature of the fear that is associated with this gate, every single line of the 32nd gate is dealing at some level or another with the fear of failure.” In The Life Force he says it louder. “It can be suicidal about failure.”
What it is aware of is what can be transformed and what cannot. “This is the potential awareness of what can or cannot be transformed. It is the brake on the drive of the 54.”
Its harmonic gate is 54 in the Root. Together they form 32-54, the Channel of Transformation, a Design of being Driven. Ego circuit, tribal, projected.
Ra’s working name for the gate is blunt. “This is the personnel manager, the 32nd gate. The 32nd gate is here to recognize where or how ambition can be fulfilled or not.” Its sense is smell. “People with the 32nd gate can smell failure coming because they have an attribute which is the remembrance of failure, unlike the 54th gate that can only remember victory.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
The tribe here is scouting for talent. Ra: “The 32nd gate is the greatest talent scout in Design. It’s always looking for talent in the tribe. It’s always looking for that potential 54 that can transform the destiny of the tribe.”
So the gate splits the two kinds of bond. “the 32 separates the personal relationship from the tribal relationship.”
And Ra says where the pair bond belongs and where it does not. “only on the emotional side is the tribe interested in the pair bond. On the splenic side it is interested in seeing that the pair is a catalyst for growth.”
Then he names the confusion this causes. “one of the reasons why that in the workplace we have so many love affairs is the confusion between the 19/49 with its mirror, the 54/32.”
Right Angle Cross of Maya 3 — Gates 32/42 | 62/61
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
Ra builds the maya out of the four gates, one at a time. “You have the 61, so the maya is built on mysteries. You have the 62. It’s built on details. You have the 32. It’s built on themes of survival, and you have the 42.”
The 42 is not growth here. “it is the 42nd gate that says that everything ends. The 42nd gate is the great gate of death, terminality, finality.” And that is the formula. “there is nothing in the maya that doesn’t have a beginning or an end, nothing. It is the basic formula of the maya.”
Detail is what makes the maya dense, and the 1/3 is built for it. “If there is no detail there is no maya. The denser the maya the denser the detail.”
What the research produces is a valuation. “the 32nd gate is here to know the price of things. No other gate is so good at weighing out the price.” Ra grounds it: “it’s not about justice. It’s only about money, worth, value.”
The 2nd line is Restraint, and it is a control line. “the whole thing about the 32 is that you want to control your prodigy. You want to shape them the way you want to shape them.” There is a bargain underneath it. “If I pull you up you always reward me from then on.”
The 3rd and 6th lines carry the weight, and Ra does not soften it. “It’s a gate that can be deeply depressive and suicidal. It can be enormously unhappy. Failure is something that it cannot tolerate.”
The 4th line is where the tribe survives its own success. “the 4th line realizes that without change the tribe will die, that there must be change.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Conservation — Gates 32/42 | 56/60
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
Two new gates arrive and they bring the law with them. Ra: “the 60 and the 56 are an arm of the law, the Cross of the Laws. So you can see what’s floating in here underneath now. There is law creeping in here. Limitation is there the moment that we start talking about conservation.”
The 56 is the loose one in the pair. “The 56th gate is so tuned to the stimulation of the time. It’s easily able to metamorphose, to change radically, believing it’s so easy to change because it has no grounding.”
Against that, the 4/1 states a principle and does not move off it. “as long as we maintain our territory, as long as we maintain our language, as long as we maintain our traditions then we are able to survive any change. That is our power.”
His picture of it is a festival. “you go into the most sophisticated societies and you go to their festival and they’ll show you their 250 year costume and their old tradition… There is this line of continuity even though everybody is showing up in Mercedes-Benz’s.”
The angle law places this profile between the other two. “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.” The 4/1 is the link, and Ra’s condition on it is a solid foundation before anything goes out.
Left Angle Cross of Limitation 2 — Gates 32/42 | 56/60
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The 5th line is Flexibility. “Easy adaption to circumstances… where superficiality is a valuable tool, that while masking the inner tight permits adaption to prevailing conditions; an instinct for adaption in times of change.”
And it is a learned line. “This is a blue line. It’s something that you have to learn. You have to learn how to deal with change. For 32s this is so difficult. And yet, they’re the gate of change.”
The message being propagandized is blunt. “If the tribe is not flexible it dies… here’s a message, flexibility or death.” Ra applies it straight at the politics of his day, at societies “that don’t want to be flexible. They want to be rigid.”
The 5/2 does not carry that message outward. “The 5/2 will vote conservatively and be guilty because it’s really liberal. There is a part of them that would really love to be flexible, but they’re terrified of flexibility because it releases chaos.” Ra’s own note on why: “to universalize and have a 2nd line it makes it so difficult. You have to be so driven, because you have no support.”
The 6th line is Tranquility. “The need to calmly face impermanence.” And the not-self version is what Ra calls the fix. “It thinks everything needs to be fixed; instinct, fix it. We fix it, it’s okay. And what I mean by fix it is not repair, it’s freeze it.”
Ra gives the next part as fact. “These are people who wake up and realize that their village is emptying out because there’s no future for the children and they commit suicide.” There is one way out. “You can only calmly face impermanence if you’re surrendered. There is no other way.”
What holds across all three
Gate 32 is conservative and it is not against change. Ra draws that line himself. “It is conservative, but radical conservatism leads to annihilation, leads to the end, leads to failure… This is about being conservative in terms of what you will change to. This is the nature of the conservativeness here. It is not about rejecting change.”
The Right Angle researches the price of things and scouts the talent. The Juxtaposition holds the principle: territory, language, tradition. The Left Angle sells flexibility, because the alternative is extinction.
Ra’s summary of where the tribe goes wrong covers all three. “The failure of the tribe, the only failure of the tribe is that it does not embrace change. The joke is that the death of the tribe is also the embrace of change.”
And a warning about reading the gate as if it were the channel. “don’t think that two gates make a channel. The channel is something else. If the 32 really understood transformation, you think it would get depressed?” Success runs through Strategy and Authority.

Gate 50 sits in the Splenic Center, in the Quarter of Duality, where purpose is fulfilled through Bonding.
Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of Values: “The value of historical continuity whose traditional values serve and enrich the present and the future.”
It is the master gate of the Spleen. Ra: “The first thing to recognize about the Spleen is that the Spleen has a master gate; that is, the 50th gate… And here with the 50th gate we have what we call the root of intelligence.” All three splenic streams start here, and in the Rave I Ching he lists them: “It is the awareness possibility of the three Streams of the Splenic Awareness; Taste, Intuition and Instinct.”
Its harmonic gate is 27 in the Sacral, Nourishment, the Gate of Caring. Together they form the 50-27, the Channel of Preservation, a Design of Custodianship. Defense circuit, Tribal, generated.
Every splenic gate carries a fear, and Ra puts this one under all the others. “The primary fear of the 50th gate and the fear that is at the heart of all awareness is the fear of responsibility.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
Law exists because two exist. Ra: “the only reason that we have law is that we have a duality. If we didn’t have a duality there would be no need for law.”
And duality guarantees the fight over it. “the moment that we have duality there are those that want laws and accept laws, and there are those that hate laws and reject laws, because we are in a duality.”
What the law protects is the young. “the law itself becomes the bedrock of the way in which the tribe and the community preserve their young.”
The mechanism underneath that is animal. “If you look at mammalian design you’ll see that the 50/27 is actually about the herding instinct.” And the herd creates the problem it then needs law to fix: “You herd them together so you’ve got to immediately create laws.”
Ra’s image for what the law does to us is not flattering. “The law is the ring in the nose. You can take the whole herd; they all have rings in their noses. They all have strings. You just pull them all along.”
He also names the transaction the fear runs on. “This is a fear gate. If you’re not going to take responsibility for your actions, we will. This is the great fear.”
Right Angle Cross of Laws 3 — Gates 50/3 | 56/60
Personal Destiny. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6. The Right Angle does the research.
This is where law begins. Ra: “So here are the true lawgivers. They’re the ones that set the framework upon which everything that we’re going to do in our society depends.”
The research is a refinement process across the six lines. “one of the things to understand about the law is that the law starts off being primitive and must be refined.”
The 1/3 finds the cracks. “Oh, do they make good lawyers. You want a lawyer that is going to find a loophole, give me someone on this cross with a 1/3.” And Ra puts the anarchy where it belongs, in the 3rd line rather than in a gate: “There is an anarchist in there; never forget it. And here in the 50th gate the anarchist lives. Every 3rd line that we’re going to meet here, there is anarchy there and thank God it’s there.”
The 1/4 does the opposite. “So a 1/4 on this cross, their way to refinement or not is absolutely determined by their parents. This law is right. It will always be right. It’s never going to change.” Ra names what goes wrong: “This is the disease of the 1/4. They love slogans.”
The 2/4 disseminates instead of refining. “there is the attempt to propagandize, the attempt to get others to accept the law.” And waking one up does not soften it: “You’re waking them up to disseminate the law in an even a more powerful way than before and influence even more people.”
The 2/5 breaks the law behind closed blinds and occasionally gets caught. “when they get caught, when they’re on their way to another prison, not the one of their own construct, but the one that will be provided, they become living symbols of the absurdity of the law.”
The 3/5 politicizes it. “the politicization of law begins here.” And with no love for the thing: “they don’t like the law. And yet, they’re on the Cross of Laws, and they don’t like the law. So they become good prosecuting attorneys. They savaged the law.”
The 3/6 is the most radical. “They know very deeply that the law is flawed. They’re going to be punished early in their life by the vagaries of the law.”
The 4/6 is the judge, and the line is Corruption. “the 4 is the spokesperson. You could say that they’re the judge.” Ra’s picture of the best available outcome: “the corrupt judge says I can’t cut off this person’s hand for this. I’ll take off one finger.”
He does not soften what that means. “The moment that the not-self genetically is predisposed to control the law they will be corrupt. Please understand that. If you have somebody on the Cross of Laws and they are a 4/6 they are naturally corruptible.”
And he blocks the reading people reach for. “There is a great illusion in the 4/6 and the illusion is that it’s a left angle. And it’s not.”
What all seven profiles are ultimately building is stated plainly. “The 50th gate is here to show us the way by giving us constructs that will allow us to survive, by educating us by providing these kinds of laws including laws that bind us together. And by herding us together into groups that we will find security and we will find harmony.”
One biological note Ra attaches to the gate. “Now it is the immune system. If you have this gate, if you’re not living correctly as yourself, you’re going to end up with real problems in your immune system.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Values — Gates 50/3 | 31/41
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The unconscious changes and everything follows. “we get away from this very powerful unconscious of the 56/60. And of course we shift to the 41-31.”
The 41 marks a beginning. “The 41st gate is a start codon. When the Sun goes in the 41st gate we begin our rave year.” Ra draws the consequence: “people who carry the 41 in their cross, wherever it is because there are many variations, inherent in their incarnation purpose is something new.”
The 31 supplies the reach. “the 31, influential; it is, after all, the gate of influence. It is the expression of leadership.”
Ra tracks the whole shift in one line. “The law becomes values becomes wishes. From law you get to, all right put that aside, you get values, very quick put that aside, what do we really want.”
The mechanical heart of this cross is pressure to feel. “You have the pressure to feel. The law has no feelings… The law is splenic. The splenic is bang; judgment now, off with their heads.”
Values arrive through feeling, and that has a price. “The values are about that you can only get to the values through feeling. And of course, this corrupts the whole splenic system, because to seek out the emotions for the law is to overwhelm the Spleen, totally.”
Ra does not present that as an improvement. “And emotional law can be frightening; mob vengeance, the lynch mob.”
Then the example he gives for this cross. “They’re going to be trying to appeal to the emotional being, to appeal to emotionality. It’s what Hitler did. What any dictator basically does in order to be able to claim power.” His close: “It’s so easy to be dictator.”
Left Angle Cross of Wishes 2 — Gates 50/3 | 31/41
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
Same four gates as the Juxtaposition, different angle. Ra states the wish this cross is making. “The Left Angle Cross of Wishes; there are only two kinds of them. There are the wishes out of the 3 that says may there please be order. And here it’s, is there not some greater law for all of us?”
The 5/1 does not start out as a heretic. The 50.5 is Consistency: “The disciplined and natural conservatism to avoid unnecessary change; the conservative awareness that basic principles should not be abandoned casually.” It is a blue line, so Ra warns: “Don’t interpret this as something that you have at the beginning. You don’t.”
There is a condition on the whole thing. “here is the criteria: when continuity, if continuity has brought success. In other words, only when you actually get to see that the basic principles that you’ve been raised to have brought success for you, only then would you stay with them, only then.”
When that test fails, the heresy starts. “the moment they see that the basic principles are not correct that’s the moment when they take on their role as a heretic. That’s when they go out there and say I wish we had a better way.”
Ra names himself as the case. “I am a carrier as a 5/1 Clarion of universal law. I call it the Human Design System.” And gives the teaching: “The teaching ultimately of the 5/1 is that the ultimate universal principle is that each of us is unique and in that being unique each of us are our own authorities, and therefore we are a law unto ourselves.”
The 5/2 is not doing that in public. “where the 5/1 is paranoid about what people want the 5/2 is simply paranoid that people are even there, because they don’t like being seen through that 2nd unconscious.” Their heresy stays indoors: “any law that needs to be broken they will break it privately.”
Ra also puts a limit on heresy itself. “heresy only works when there are basic principles involved that are not violated, that all heresy is simply an evolution based on a solid foundation.”
The 6/2 has a different job entirely, and Ra says so directly. The 50.6 is Leadership, “the gift in a position of power… to maintain harmony even in severity.” Then: “every 6th line being has an opportunity in its life to be a true leader. And who does it lead? Itself; it’s not leading anybody else.”
A role model does not campaign. “a role model is alone. Period. You’re something to be experienced; nothing more, nothing less.” And what the power is for: “the power is to be your own authority… And I will not cut off my own hand. I am my own law.”
The 6/3 stands at the edge of the gate and the question changes. Having arrived at the universal principle, “the 6/3 is looking over there and it sees the 28, and the 28 is looking back at the 6/3 and it’s saying, yeah, that’s nice, but what’s it for? What’s life for?”
What holds across all three
Gate 50 is where law comes from, and law here is a survival strategy for a species that has to bond to reproduce.
The Right Angle writes the law and refines it, from the loophole-finder through the propagandist to the corruptible judge. The Juxtaposition swaps law for values, which means swapping the Spleen’s instant judgment for emotional appeal, and Ra’s example for that is the dictator. The Left Angle wishes for a greater law, and only the 5/1 goes out and preaches it.
The channel is generated, so none of it initiates. Ra: “recognize that only when it is responding can it truly nourish, can it truly care.” And the aura works by pull rather than push: “They bring you into their law. They bring you into their thing. They bring you into their custodianship.”
The not-self version is taking on responsibility that was never yours, and that is the fear feeding itself.
Everything runs through Strategy and Authority. Ra’s own version of the endpoint: “there is only one law and it is your law.”

Ra’s keynote in the Rave I Ching is the Gate of the Game Player: “The transitoriness of power and influence.” He reads his own line out loud in the crosses material: “Sic transit gloria mundi, this is the great line of all things shall pass.”
The fear is death, and Ra is exact about what that means. “The fear of this gate is of death. The challenge is life itself.” In Rave Anatomy II he sharpens it: “this is a fear that death will come before you find your purpose.”
Its harmonic gate is 38 in the Root. Together they form 28-38, the Channel of Struggle, a Design of Stubbornness. Knowing circuit, projected.
That last word carries weight. “The 28th gate is part of a projected channel. It knows that, in its own way. It knows that purpose is not something that it can ever find itself.”
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
In a quarter built on bonding, this gate is the outlier that knows about relationship. Ra: “There is only one gate in this quarter that knows anything about relationship; the 28th gate, Preponderance of the Great.”
The relationship it knows is with the 57. “the 57th gate will only stop caring for itself only in the presence of either the 28 or 38, only then will it begin to care about the other.”
And the bond it wants is not the tribal one. “I’m not hooking up with you so that I’m going to have a child with you, you idiot, that’s over there on the other side of the chart. However, through you, because you’re the way, through you I can find my purpose.”
So the mechanic of bonding here is empowerment, in the circuit’s own keynote. “it’s not about finding a way to blend with your partner and become one, but it’s about mutually empowering each other to be even stronger or even better.” Ra is blunt about the circuit’s keynote: “We do not have a theme of Share… Individuality is: Empower.”
Right Angle Cross of the Unexpected 3 — Gates 28/27 | 31/41
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
Purpose arrives here unplanned. Ra: “It is unexpected. It comes out of the unexpected. It is not a plan. That’s why the preparation has no direction.”
What gets prepared is strength. “before it can truly find its purpose it must develop its strengths. These are strugglers after all. They have to develop their strength and the development of their strength is really the honing of their intuition.”
And strength starts on the material plane. “It is the intuition for survival first. You cannot be concerned about purpose until you have survived on the material plane.”
The 27 sits opposite and does the caring. “here you have a genetic role and a genetic role to nourish and to care. And it is this hidden 27 because it’s hidden, that really is the beginning of that love that can be possible between the 28 and the 57.”
Ra names the risk of engaging before the strength is there. “the most dangerous thing for 28s is that because the Spleen is weak to begin with, that if they don’t have enough strength and they engage with the other, that it can end up being very, very depressing.”
This is the self-absorbed end of the wheel, and Ra says so: “right angle love, self-absorbed love.” The 2/4 line is where he puts the knife in. “the devil is your partner. If you don’t know that, you don’t know anything about love.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Risks — Gates 28/27 | 33/19
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The 33 and 19 change the frequency. Ra: “the 19th gate is the completion of the Quarter of Mutation and the 33rd gate is the completion of the Quarter of Civilization.”
What that produces is a fixation on territory. “empowerment is fine, but territory is better.” And the reason is mammalian. “built into their bonding is the need to establish territory.”
Ra names the risk this cross carries across as a bridge, and his image for it is not flattering. “it’s much easier to hold on to somebody if they have to sleep in the same bed as you; something like that. It’s much easier to glue them.”
The angle law puts the 4/1 in the middle of the machine. “Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.” The Juxtaposition is neither. “it is a way of bringing together the personal process of the Right Angle and transforming it into the Left Angle propaganda and marketing.”
And the condition that decides whether it works. “If you’re going to be a 4/1, the things that you trust in, the things you believe in, the things you understand, whatever the case may be, you have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
Left Angle Cross of Alignment 2 — Gates 28/27 | 33/19
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
The 5th line is Treachery, and Ra defends it. “The manipulation of the collective, that while pitting one faction against the other does not directly support or reject either; the intuitive capacity of the game player to provoke struggle amongst others.”
In plain speech: “If you don’t empower me good enough I will look for somebody better to empower me.”
That is what alignment means. “To align yourself, literally, to align yourself to those forces in which you feel like you don’t have to go any further because here is where your purpose can be.”
Ra reads it as the signature of the era. “the theme of our time, treachery, ain’t it so.” Better car, better dog, better wife. “Every product that’s sold on the market is called new and improved.”
He also removes the moral weight from trust. “there is a ‘rust’ in trust. Trust is something that does not stand the test of time if you’re a freak. You can only trust the freak to empower you in the moment they are empowering you.”
Read the profiles before you spread this evenly. “the only truly transpersonal Left Angle Profile is the 5/1. It’s the only one. 5/2s, because they’re self-motivated, are rarely transpersonal in their activities.”
The 5/2 here goes further into itself. “the 5/2 is deeply paranoid about being involved in trust because it discovers very quickly that it doesn’t see that working… I don’t trust anything. There is nothing to trust. I’m a freak.”
The 6th line is Blaze of Glory, and Ra names its other side. “the 6th line blaze of glory for humanity is also self-destruction. It’s always there as a possibility. If you can’t find your purpose, then why not blow something up.”
What holds across all three
The gate is one thing: the awareness to struggle. Ra: “this is the awareness to struggle, not what to struggle about… ‘I am not you. I am not the other. I will fight to be me.'”
The Right Angle prepares, develops its strength, and finds purpose by accident. The Juxtaposition fixes on territory and glues the bond in place. The Left Angle keeps moving until the empowerment resonates, and calls that alignment.
None of them can do it alone, and none of them can be talked into it. “that’s what the 28-38 says, ‘How can I find out what my purpose is alone?'”
The correct battle is not chosen by mind. “rather than letting your mind choose your battles, you need to be initiated through your Strategy and Authority into struggles that have value for you.”

Gate 44 sits in the Spleen, in the Quarter of Duality, where purpose is fulfilled through Bonding.
Ra’s keynote is the Gate of Alertness: “The success of any interaction is based on the absence of any preconditions.” He calls that line the secret to all relationships, and he means the absence literally. “There are no preconditions. There is the instinctive memory of what is necessary which will simply respond in the now to the right relationship.”
The name is precise and people misread it. “Get the joke of the name. It’s not the gate of meeting. It’s Coming to Meet. It doesn’t mean they meet. That’s an assumption.”
The fear driving it is the past. Rave I Ching: “Coming to Meet is the gate of the fear of the past.” Ra takes it further down: “At the very core of the fear of the past is the fear of extinction. It’s the fear of dying out as a species.”
The memory here is a particular kind. “This is a gate specifically of Memory. Instinctive memory, not one that can be called forward but a memory that operates in the now and is cued by patterns in experience. The alertness of this gate is the alertness to patterns.”
Its harmonic gate is 26, the Gate of the Egoist, in the Heart. Together they form the 44-26, the Channel of Surrender, a Design of a Transmitter, the only direct link between the Spleen and the Heart. Ego/Tribal circuit, projected.
And it has no voice of its own. “The possibilities of this instinctive memory and its sharpness have no direct access to expression through the Throat.” Everything it knows has to pass through the will of the 26.
What the Quarter of Duality does to this gate
The 44 closes the quarter. Ra: “Quarters begin with a Sphinx gate and end with a gate of the Cross of the Four Ways… It is the door that closes the Quarter.” So this gate tells you what Duality concluded.
What it concluded is a rule the emotional side cannot follow. “If you go instead of from the 44th gate you drop over to the emotional side to the 37th gate, you will see that there is no way that interaction can be based on the absence of any preconditions.” The 37 sets the conditions in advance, and the 44 refuses to.
That is the whole tribal trade in one line. “It is a mirror of the 37th gate, that offers social loyalty and access to the Tribal refrigerator in return for the promise of benefits from the Ego’s will power. The 44th gate offers individual loyalty and access to its memory resources in return for the Ego’s strength to assuage its fears.”
And the working sense is smell, at a depth Ra separates from ordinary smell. “No gate has a more profound sense of smell… the 44 can smell things that even dogs can’t smell. This is where you smell a rat.”
Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways 3 — Gates 44/24 | 33/19
Personal Destiny. The Right Angle does the research. Profiles 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6 and 4/6.
The other gates are 24, the Gate of Rationalizing, 33, the Gate of Privacy, and 19, the Gate of Wanting. Ra’s rule for the cross as a whole: “there are four main departments of that Cross. There are four ways in which that Cross is fulfilled… and none of them really mean anything on their own until you see them all together.”
The job is staffing the tribe. “The 44th gate, in terms of this material movement, is the personnel manager. It is the great nose.” And what it is looking for is will it cannot generate itself: “The splenic system is not a motor. It is looking for the ego and its willpower.”
Ra corrects the usual reading of this gate directly. “People like to think that it is a manipulating gate. It’s not, it’s a recruitment gate. Join the Navy, see the world.”
Conditions do exist here. They arrive after the interaction, which is the reverse of what most people expect. “It’s as a result of interaction that conditions can emerge.” Or as the instruction: “don’t worry about conditions until after you’ve interacted. First interact… you can’t choose whom to interact with. You have to wait and see.”
The 1/3 hits the collision first. “It’s like there shouldn’t be any preconditions, but the preconditions are everywhere.” Ra says the 3rd line then makes its greatest profit here, “because you actually make the profit off the back of the ego.”
The 2/4 gets Management, and Ra says the ego comes to them rather than the other way round. “Usually it’s 44s because it’s their job to preserve the tribe… they have to search for 26s. But the 2/4s obviously aren’t on the search. The 26 is.”
The 3/5 gets Interference, and its power is in not engaging. “There is no more powerful 44 than this 3rd line in dealing with any ego. And the secret is that the 44 in this case does not interact.” Ra says 44.3 people appear weak on purpose: “They give off a frequency that says I don’t challenge the ego world.”
The 4/6 gets Honesty, and Ra reads what sits underneath it. “The honesty is the indifference that’s possible, and it is a fantastic manipulation.” Which sounds like this: “I don’t really think you can do this job. No, I don’t really need you.”
One thing that runs under all of it. “The 44 is very, very, very cold, like the reptilian source that it comes from… The 26 is hot-blooded.” Ra warns against warming it up: “don’t play hot with an ego. You play hot with an ego and you’re in a fight.”
Juxtaposition Cross of Alertness — Gates 44/24 | 7/13
Fixed Fate. One profile: the 4/1.
The 33 and the 19 are gone and two role gates replace them. Ra: “You’ve gotten rid of the 19 and the 33. It’s not there. This is no longer a Cross of the Four Ways.”
What comes in is the start of the next quarter’s machinery. “We’re going to enter into the beginnings at the unconscious level of the beginning of what is in fact the next quarter. We’re going to bring in the beginning of the Sphinx process. And so we have the 7 and the 13.”
The purpose is roles, and roles for a specific reason. “This is about finding a proper role, and it’s about finding a role in order to be able to influence, and to be able to influence the direction that will power is going to take. This is about shaping will.”
He names each gate’s contribution. “The 7th gate, the role of the self in interaction and the 13th gate, the role of the self in its openness. You bring a role into this.”
The Juxtaposition itself is a bridge. Ra: “it is a way of bringing together the personal process of the Right Angle and transforming it into the Left Angle propaganda and marketing. Because remember, that’s what Left Angle does. Right Angle does the research; Left Angle does marketing and propaganda.”
And the condition that decides whether a 4/1 holds. “You have to have a solid foundation before you put it out, because the great risk to you in your life is being broken.”
Left Angle Cross of Incarnation 2 — Gates 44/24 | 7/13
Trans-Personal Destiny. Profiles 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
This cross sits at the seam. “At this very end of the quarter we’re about to move into the transition to move into this Quarter of Mutation.” Ra maps the four quarters as mind, body, reproduction, and then the reproduced life.
The job is a fusion, and it does not happen politely. “What incarnation does is that it fuses the duality of the Quarter of Duality and fuses it towards a single direction. And this requires manipulation.”
Ra takes the charge out of that word and leaves the mechanism. “The root is hand, mano. So, it’s just about what one does with one’s hands.” And in The Life Force: “because this is the great gate of manipulation, I don’t mean that in the negative sense, it’s simply what it means, the ability to control the ego.”
Reading the 44.5, Ra says what the end of Duality produces. “Instead of actually doing that, what it really says is, I’ve done the whole duality trip. I’ve been through the whole thing. I have seen it for what it is. And now I want a divorce.”
He flags his own heaviness and keeps going. “It’s a very, very heavy interpretation, by the way, that I’m giving you of this 44.5, but I would like you to understand how aggressive the control mechanisms at work now.”
Read the profiles separately. Ra’s general rule: “the only truly transpersonal Left Angle Profile is the 5/1. It’s the only one. 5/2s, because they’re self-motivated, are rarely transpersonal in their activities.”
For the 5/1 he adds a correction that matters. This heresy does not point forward. “At this level, this 5th line rather than being progressive heresy is regressive. It’s very different.” And the mechanism is naked: “They can only be manipulated to do this. It is the only way.”
The 5/2 can be called, and it is rare. “The 5/2 can be called and it can be called to universalization. It’s rare. They don’t like being projected on that they can do something that they’re not sure they can actually do.” Ra gives their tool as the promise: “all you have to do is get them to agree to make a promise. And you have them.”
The 6/2 and 6/3 get Aloofness, and Ra says the 6th line here stops short. “The 44.6s don’t make that leap. They stay on the roof.” What stays with them is hypocrisy, which he refuses to moralize about: “all I’m saying is ‘do as I say, not as I do.’ And I’m not saying that’s wrong.”
His concern about them is biological. “With these beings their immune systems are not prepared for their post-Kironian stage.” And the 6/3 sits on the edge looking straight at the next quarter: “16 gates pointed at death. It’s what you get.”
What holds across all three
Gate 44 is the tribe’s memory, and it uses it. “Remember the 44 has to deal with the Ego, not the Throat. The power that it has over the Ego is its memory and how it uses that memory.”
The three angles do different work with that memory. The Right Angle researches who can be recruited and staffs the tribe. The Juxtaposition builds roles so that will can be shaped and pointed.
The Left Angle fuses the whole quarter toward one direction, and Ra says that fusion runs on manipulation.
All three run on the same fear. “The fear of the past is the fear of getting stuck in stagnation. The tribe can stagnate so quickly.” The 32 and the 44 work as a pair: “they are trying to overcome those fears through having material success in the present.”
The correct expression is a nose you already have. The Definitive Book: “You can trust your instinct to guide you in life, and if something about a person or a project you are dealing with doesn’t ‘smell’ right, don’t engage with them.”
And the channel is projected, so nothing here works on push. “This channel often works best when you wait until the market or your tribe recognizes your gifts, pledges its support to you, and asks you to promote yourself.” Without that recognition, Ra says the exposure runs the other way: “there’s nothing more exposed than being in the Tribe.”
